As you all well know, the main tool of any master is roulette!
In this article, the author of the YouTube channel "Hassan Abu-Izmero" will share with his readers the way how to make a "roulette of the" executive class "with a brass body do it yourself. Yes, you can use this tool in the workshop, but it is designed a little for other purposes. The main one is measurements at a new facility in the presence of the customer.
This homemade product is quite simple to manufacture, and does not require complex tools. You can repeat it even inhome conditions.

Manufacturing process.
As a starting material, he uses an existing tape measure with a plastic case. He disassembles it, and temporarily leaves the coil in the housing so that the spring does not unwind.
Measures its radius with compasses, and transfers the size to the brass sheet. The author outlines two circles, and cuts them with metal scissors.
Both resulting discs are temporarily bonded with glue.
Then the master polishes the edges on the tape machine, trying to achieve the correct circle.
Put a label on the disks for subsequent assembly, because their shape is not perfect. Separates them.
On one of the discs he minted his logo.
Having measured the width of the roulette wheel, marks the brass sheet with a caliper, and cuts off a strip of the required length.
The edges of the strip are processed on a belt sander.
Now the strip must be bent into a ring. This author performs using a pipe and a mallet.
In a brass bar, a longitudinal cut is made with a band saw, and the workpiece is cut off. It looks like a tuning fork.
This sleeve is soldered to one of the disks. That it will hold the central part of the spring.
Now the annular part of the housing is soldered to the side cover. As usual, flux, solder, and a gas burner are required.
The slot through which the tape will come out is carefully processed with a small file. She should not scratch the tape.
The inside of the case is lubricated with solid oil. Holding the tape and spring, the master carefully transfers the tape measure cartridge into the new case. Lays a spring curl in the sleeve.
The housing can be closed. The author solders the second cover, observing the marks applied.
Heats up a thick brass wire, and forms a ring from it.
The ring is soldered to the body.
For this roulette, the master decided to make a small strap. To do this, he cut off a strip of leather, and sewed it in the shape of a loop.
All body surfaces are carefully polished using abrasive polishing paste.
The strap is connected to the tape measure using a steel key ring. It would be wise to additionally use a small rifle with a swivel.
