We pump water from the compressor from the refrigerator (airlift)


I welcome all fans to craft, today we will consider how you can use an air compressor so that it pumps water. Such a pump is called airlift, and its essence is that the compressor pumps air into the water pipe and then comes out with bubbles, already with part of the water. Of course, compressors from refrigerators for such designs are usually not used, since a good compressor is needed for good performance.

Such a pump can be an outlet if the pump doesn’t get in your well, and the suction pump cannot take water, since it is more than 9 meters from the water mirror.

The author demonstrated to us how, from a shallow depth of about 5 m, it is possible to pump water from a well with a compressor from a refrigerator, the productivity was 17 liters in 10 minutes.

Materials and tools used by the author:

Material List:
- compressor from the refrigerator;
- water pipe;
- hoses;
- clamp or wire;
- a piece of copper tube (material is not important).

Tool List:
- brain and clerical knife.

Manufacturing process homemade:

Step one. Compressor
We install a long hose on the compressor outlet pipe, it will have to reach the water level in the well. It would be nice to put an air filter on the suction tube, so the compressor will last longer.





Step Two A tube
Inside the water pipe we install a pipe through which air will flow. Homemade performance will depend on the internal diameter of the water supply, as well as the diameter of the air tube. The volume and pressure of the incoming air are also very important.

Auto placed the tube inside, connected everything through a piece of hose, bent at an angle, but the hose should not be squashed! We fix the whole thing with a clamp and can be lowered into the well.













Step Three Test
We turn on the compressor, it will begin to drive air into the water pipe, in which a certain level of water will stand.Water will begin to bubble, and with the air this whole thing will go outside. Of course, the water will go jerky, so the performance of homemade products is low, but this can be a way out of some situations.

In 10 minutes, the author managed to get 17 liters of water, which is pretty good for such a weak compressor. The compressor must have greater capacity, be able to adjust the capacity and equipped with an oil separator or even be oil-free, but it is expensive. A refrigeration compressor is not at all suitable for this. It can give high pressure, but has very low productivity. Here you need the opposite. And the water will be with oil, it will inevitably be blown out of the crankcase. At least an oil separator is needed. By the way, for my project, I replaced regular freon oil (you can’t use it in air) with ordinary automotive synthetics, it works fine.
