Manufacturing process homemade:
Step one. Forging ax
The main works on the manufacture of hatchets are made by forging. To begin with, we heat steel and then, using a special wedge, chop off a piece of steel, from which we will make an ax. The author forms an ax profile literally before our eyes, of course, we see everything in accelerated mode on the video. In fact, the manufacturing process requires more time and effort.
When the profile of the ax is ready, we use a wedge to punch a hole in it where we will insert the ax. Finally we trim the profile of the ax and leave it to cool.
Step Two Grinding
After forging, the author polishes the ax to a mirror shine, we have good steel and the hatchet looks great. For work, the author used a disk nozzle for a grinder with Velcro for sandpaper. If desired, you can bring the steel into the mirror by polishing.
Step Three Decorative pattern
We put a decorative pattern on the ax, with it the hatchet looks much more interesting.Steel is not yet hardened and quite soft, the author applies the pattern using a special bit.
Step Four Quenching
We temper the ax, the author in such a tool only tempers the blade. We heat the area of the blade to a red glow, and then only the blade is immersed in water. As a result, the blade will turn out to be very durable, and the body of the ax will remain plastic and will not crack. Subsequently, the author also cooled the whole body of the ax in water, carefully pouring water on it.
Step Five Hatchet
We make an ax for an ax from a bar or a thick board, the most important thing is to reliably connect the ax with an ax. The ax should tightly go into the ax and it must be wedged, you can use wood in combination with wood glue as a wedge. Of course, it would be good to protect a tree with oil or varnish from the influence of an external aggressive environment.
