Many of them have various grinding fixtures, cars and machine tools. The main and common problem with them is clogging of grinding wheels and belts. In this situation, the quality of grinding parts and blanks drops sharply.
In this article, the author of the YouTube channel Oleg Pevtsov will tell you how it can be solved in accessible and simple ways.
These simple tips will help you not only save on the purchase of abrasive materials, but also improve the quality of processing parts and blanks.
Materials
—
- Frozen silicone
- Packing tape
- Plastic plumbing pipes
- Various types of rubber.
Instruments, used by the author.
- Orbital sander
- Miter saw
- A brush.
Manufacturing process.
So, the first way is to clean the surface of the abrasive wheel using a professional “pencil”. Such a block is similar in its characteristics to hardened silicone.
Oleg manages to clear the contaminated disk completely in just a few passes.
At the same time, the block itself is erased quite a bit, it will be enough for several months of active use.
Small crumbs remain on the surface of the paper, but they can be easily removed with a regular brush.
The author decides to combine these tips with the manufacture of his project, and contaminates the grinding disc again.
Surely in every workshop there are old, dried pieces of silicone. He wants to test the effectiveness of sandpaper cleaning with the rest of this material.
It turns out almost the same as with the help of a professional unit. Although it is necessary to apply a brush too.
The next material Oleg will use to clean the surface will be ordinary packaging film. He cuts a small piece with a miter saw.
As you can see, there is a cleaning effect, but it is insufficient.
After the film, the master cleans the disk with a block, the difference is incredible.
Now an attempt to clean with two types of plastic plumbing pipes.
The quality of such cleaning is also low, the plastic begins to melt, and even the brush does not help.
Oleg had to clean it all over again.
But the brush with the trimmed pile in itself copes very well.
However, anyway, when cleaning with a unit, the quality is much higher.
The last two subjects remain. This is a dense rubber gasket from the toilet, and a soft rubber "sausage".
The tight gasket did the job very well.
And after cleaning with a brush trim, the disc is just perfect.
So, here are three winners - a professional “pencil”, solidified silicone, and a dense rubber gasket.
I thank Oleg for simple but very useful ways to clean the surface of sandpaper!
All good mood, good luck, and interesting ideas!
