Cardboard skateboard





From this article we will learn how to make a skateboard out of cardboard. Of course cardboard is needed tight.



Tools and materials:
-Cardboard;
for a skateboard you will need a sheet of cardboard with a minimum size of 120 cm x 100 cm. The cardboard should be 6 mm thick and have 2 layers. It is best to use cardboard, which is usually used to transport heavy and bulky items such as refrigerators and washing machines.
-Plywood;
-Acrylic;
-Fasteners;
- CNC with a laser cutter;
-Hacksaw;
- Platform for a skateboard with rollers;



Step One: Design
There are many different models of skateboards. The master decided not to complicate the design and choose the classic form of a skateboard.

Step Two: Design
The base structure of the skateboard will resemble a geogrid.
In the CAD program, the master designs the foundation.


He designs ribs on the model. The ribs that run along the entire length of the skateboard are called stringers. These are parts that have recesses only on top. There are also two sets of ribs, called ribs A and ribs B, which create 60-degree angles to the stringers. The ribs A have recesses in the upper and lower parts, while the ribs B have recesses only in the lower part.

Note. In the animation above, stringers are blue, edges A are red, and edges B are green.






Models base load at 65 and 100 kg.


Step Three: Cutting
Now you need to cut the cardboard according to the project.
Stringers - 7 pcs., 6 mm cardboard.
Ribs A - 27 pieces, 6mm cardboard.
Ribs B - 27 pieces, 6 mm cardboard.
Acrylic linings - 2 pcs., 4 mm.

Step Four: Build
Then the master begins to collect the base.


First, the ribs A are installed on the stringers.







Then ribs B.









Step Five: Installing Platforms and Pads
The places on which the platforms will be supported by the master are reinforced with plywood.






Screws the platform with rollers to the bottom plate. Between the pads sets the base.







All is ready. According to the master, the design turned out to be quite strong.

At the beginning of the project, we were skeptical about how the advice would last. It is promising to think that the board is completely made of acrylic and cardboard, there is no glue in it, but at the same time it successfully withstands the weight of the rider.
