Here is another result of following the Dieter Rams rule “good design is as little design as possible”, this time performed by Instructables under the nickname masteruan. There are few details in the lamp; it is not only expressive, but also easy to manufacture. He also looks like a fantastic bird in some ways, but which one?
For the manufacture of wooden parts of the lamp, the master takes a profile with a section of 40x10 mm. The length of the “neck”, consisting of two identical segments of such a profile, can be selected arbitrarily, depending on the desired lamp height. The lower part of the “neck” one third of its total length is part of one of the three “legs”. Two additional legs from the same profile have a similar length. Also, the master takes hardware, angles, a cord with a plug and a switch, a lamp holder and the lamp itself - a compact fluorescent is shown, but it is better to take an LED. An incandescent lamp cannot be installed in this lamp.
The master cuts out the “legs” and two details of the “neck” from the profile, cuts their ends at such angles so that they are parallel to the surface of the table.
It connects with the corners both parts of the "neck", to each of which at the same time it attaches the "leg" to the same hardware:
Installs a lamp holder with a cable attached to it, which is fixed by a latch built into the holder. If there is none, it is necessary to fix the cord in another way, excluding damage to the insulation and the outer shell.
A rectangle is cut out of a flexible matte film, bent, then fixed on top of the details of the "neck". The diameter of such a lampshade should not be too small, otherwise it will be inconvenient to screw in and turn out the lamp.
A simple, expressive lamp combining wood, metal and plastic parts is ready.
