Unique electric scooter with two wheels and no steering wheel

I welcome all fans to craft, I propose to consider instructions for making an interesting scooter with electric traction do it yourself. Unique homemade the fact that the scooter does not have a steering wheel, although it has only two wheels. For control, the author made a front wheel on a hinge, as a result, it turns itself, depending on which direction to bend. Of course, to drive such a machine you need to have a lot of experience, but in general, homemade work has the right to life.

Everything works on a 800 W motor wheel, and the power source is a home-made lithium-ion battery. If the project interests you, I propose to study homemade work in more detail!

Materials and tools used by the author:

Material List:
- 800 W motor wheel;
- cells for battery assembly (36v 4Ah);
- steel bars;
- suitable BMS for the battery;
- Sheet steel;
- controller for brushless motor;
- motor wheel;
- scooter wheel or the like;
- square pipes;
- bolts and nuts;
- plywood.

Tool List:
- grinder;
- welding machine;
- roulette;
- voltmeter;
- spot welding machine or soldering iron.

Homemade manufacturing process:

Step one. Front fork
We make the front fork, its author assembled from steel rods. The front fork works on four hinges, thanks to which the front wheel can rotate. The author made hinges of bolts, steel plates and nuts. We fasten the front fork to the beam, which is a piece of the profile pipe.

Step Two Main frame and rear fork
We weld the main frame, its author quickly welded from profile pipes. We also weld the rear fork from profile pipes, we make fasteners for the wheel from thick steel plates.

On the other hand, weld the front beam with a fixed fork.

Step Three Bottom and control
Cut and install on the scooter bottom. It can be made from a piece of plywood or other material of your choice.
As for the steering, you will need a piece of pipe, we install a manual throttle on it, as well as a motor control button or other control element.

Step Four Battery assembly
We make a rechargeable battery; for its manufacture, the author used old 18650 rechargeable cells. Such cells can be obtained from laptop batteries. We measure the voltage at each cell, if it has far gone below 3.5V, we do not use such a cell, it is already damaged, has a small capacity.

The author quickly assembled the battery thanks to special plastic holders, which are assembled as a designer. Be sure to put a suitable BMS on the battery to protect it from overcharging or deep discharge. Without a BMS, such a battery will last a very short time.
We wrap the battery well with film or put on heat shrink, and it is advisable to make a reliable case for it.

Step Five Assembly and testing
On the bottom of the scooter, the author put a controller for a brushless motor, as well as a battery. We connect the wiring of the motor control to the "steering knob", it also has a hand brake.

You can go, the first tests were not so easy for the author, the home-made turned out to be unstable. But after a while, the author more or less learned to ride a scooter. In general, for a change, the home-made turned out to be interesting, only it is necessary to make more reliable hinges and it is possible to install springs for automatic wheel alignment after turning.

The project is completed on this, I hope you liked the homemade work, and you found useful thoughts for yourself. Good luck and creative inspiration, if you decide to repeat this. Do not forget to share your ideas and homemade things with us!

Korolev,
Okay, I agree. For some reason I was sure that high-current. And he disassembled his external battery for the walkie-talkie, just on the battery from the laptop, so there is generally 4A return ...
feonor12,
As a rule, there is just a battery with high current efficiency
I will not say categorically, but why does a laptop have high-current batteries?
Characteristics of the 18650 Samsung ICR 26J 2600mah:
rated capacity - 2600mah;
minimum capacity - 2550mah;
without protection;
Max. discharge current: 5.2A;
Max. charge current: 2.6A;
Rated voltage: 3.6 V;
Full charge voltage: 4.2 V;
Full discharge voltage: 2.75 V;
Diameter: 18 mm;
Length: 65 mm;
Weight: 45 grams.

As a rule, there are low-current batteries!

I may not understand something (or I don’t know), but as a rule there is just a battery with high current output. Another thing is that by the time they are taken out of the laptop battery, they are already half dead and are not able to give a large current.
Such cells can be obtained from laptop batteries
As a rule, there are low-current batteries!
- 800 W motor wheel; - cells for battery assembly (36v 4Ah);
800W / 36V = 22A! 4Ah? scratch
