Initially, I planned this product as a broadband radiation detector for tuning receiving and transmitting equipment, searching for so-called bugs, and monitoring the radiation of microwave ovens.

I will not hide, I drew any information from any sources and set up my own experiments in this area. Therefore, in this device, handmade printed circuit boards of my personal manufacture are applied, which proved to be good at work.

Let's start with the high frequency part. The signal from the antenna through the connector goes to the simplest LC filter, attenuating signals below 20 MHz. Further, the signal is amplified by two stages of microwave transistors and detected by a microwave diode without smoothing high frequencies, I mean frequencies up to 100 MHz. Simply ? Very difficult. In this scarf, I had to use super-miniature components that were at hand, and, of course, the Soviet-made microwave diode deserves special attention. It is impossible to solder it, it is afraid of statics, to store before installation in a lead sheath. It took me a lot of time to configure the amplitude - frequency characteristics of the board, I did not have a generator to create a 10 GHz signal. And then I remembered. Take the generator much lower than the frequencies and adjust the circuit according to the harmonic above. Everything worked out.

Now we pass, if not strange, to the power board of the entire device. I thought for a long time which battery to apply to me. Lithium ion battery? Or maybe Nickel Cadmium Metal Hydride ... I decided a CRONA battery. 9 volts. At that time, I stuck it in all my designs. As they say, bridges are burned.
