The design consists of two separate racks: under the audio center with a bookshelf and a rack with a TV, bar and secretary.
STAND UNDER AUDIO EQUIPMENT
The rack for audio equipment is assembled on the basis of a frame of laminated chipboard 16 mm in size 1730x702x420 mm. The frame is based on two racks 1, the upper panel 2 and the intermediate panel 5, which are assembled on self-tapping screws.
To increase the load on the panel 5, a stand 8 was put on the self-tapping screws. In the shelves 6, which are also fixed on the self-tapping screws, a cutout of 503x50 mm was made so as not to interfere with the cover of the turntable. For the same purpose, the player is mounted on a sliding shelf 15, which is mounted on a slide.
Under the shelf 5 between the rack 1 and 8 is a box 14.
The box itself is assembled from 10 mm chipboard and consists of two sidewalls 3, a rear and front walls 2 and a bottom 4. The facade 1 is made of the same material as the rack. A box is being assembled on self-tapping screws. The box is centered relative to the facade in width, 5 mm indent from the lower edge of the facade for installation of the slide. Between the shelf 5 and the front of the drawer there is a gap of about 2 mm.
The next stage is the installation of doors 12 and 13. The doors are made of 5 mm “graphite” mirror glass and have dimensions of 367x313 mm and 276x428 mm, respectively. They are mounted on swivel hinges with clips through rubber gaskets and open 90º.
Shelf 7 with a depth of 200 mm is installed on the shelf holders.
All visible ends of the shelves and racks are glued with a special decorative edge.
The back wall of the laminated 6 mm fiberboard consists of two parts 3 and 4 (the central niche where the equipment is installed is not closed to improve ventilation), which are mounted on screws.
The dimensions of the materials used are given in table 1.
RACK WITH TV, BAR AND SECRETER
The stand consists of three parts: a bedside table for the TV “A”, a stand with a bar “B” and a bedside table with a secretary “C”.
I made blocks separately, and then connected them together, using furniture ties between blocks “A” and “C” and fasteners “Minifix” between “A” and “B”.
TV stand “A”
The bedside table has the dimensions 594x560x660 mm.
The base of the bedside table is made up of two racks 1 and panels 4 and 2. The rack 5, mounted at a distance of 344 mm, forms two niches that are filled with drawers 6 and 7.
Boxes are assembled according to the same principle as described above.
The rear wall 3 does not cover the niche formed by shelves 2 and 4, which improves ventilation of the equipment (VCR, DVD player).
The principle of fasteners is the same as on a hardware rack. The materials used are given in table 2.
Rack with bar "B"
The base of the rack consists of two racks 1 and 2 with a width of 420 mm and 300 mm, respectively, and two shelves 3 and 4, between which there is an additional rack 5, forming a niche for the bar. In shelf 4, a cut was made of 324x18 mm in size for the future hinged door of the bar. On shelves 3 and 4, a 50x50 mm bevel is removed, which is purely decorative. Assembled on self-tapping screws. The back wall of the bar is covered by a patch panel of 6 mm plywood 6, onto which a 4 mm mirror 324x410 mm in size is glued with double-sided tape. Plywood fastened on screws.
The door of the bar 7 with dimensions of 320x424 mm is mounted on special mortise hinges designed for secretaries, and has restrictive mechanisms that allow it to be opened smoothly and fixed in the 90º position to form a table. In the closed position, the door is fixed with a magnetic latch.
The materials used are given in table 3.
Bedside table with a secretary
The frame of the bedside table consists of two racks 1, two panels 5 and the top cover 2, interconnected by screws. In a niche formed by panels 5, a shelf 4 with a size of 468x280 mm is installed on the shelf holders. The niche is closed by a recessed door 7, set on double-hinged mortise hinges.
Panel 6, which opens from the bottom, has dimensions of 496x260 mm so as not to “rub” along the wall of section “A” upon opening, to which a nightstand with a secretary “C” will be attached. It serves simultaneously as a door for the upper niche formed by shelves 2 and 5, and in the raised position by the table. To part 2, panel 6 is attached to the piano loop, in the raised position it is fixed by special mechanisms used in kitchen shelves. The whole structure is interconnected by a laid on back wall of 3 of a 6-mm fiberboard fixed to the screws.
The list of used materials is given in table 4.
That’s how my equipment once stood until I moved. Now gathering dust in the garage at the cottage and waiting for its finest hour.
