In this master class I will show how to make quite powerful speakers from a small amount of adhesive tape and copper wire. I hope you will like it.
Step 1: Materials
You will need:
- Insulated copper wire (as thin as possible, slightly thicker than a human hair)
- A pair of headphones
- Powerful magnet
and of course ...
- SKOOOOOOTCH (I used masking tape, but any other adhesive tape is suitable. It is important that there is a good adhesive surface for wrapping the coils.
Step 2: Tools
Of the tools you need a little, namely:
- scissors
- Lighter
Step 3: Surface
Need to make a surface for the future speaker. Cut five strips of duct tape (each about 10 - 11 cm long) and glue them together. (IMPORTANT: Glue ALL STRIPES WITH ADHESIVE SIDE UP).
Cut off uneven edges.
Step 4: Spiral
To wind the wire in the right way, just follow the photos. When you reach the last (smallest) turn, cut a thin strip of adhesive tape and (as always, with the adhesive side up) stick it, as shown in the photo. On it, a piece of wire will be superimposed on the turns. Leave the edge 5-6 cm long and cut off the excess.
Step 5: Cable
To connect the speaker to the signal source, you need a stereo cable. It can be bought separately or cut off from a pair of headphones, as I did.
Step 6: Cardboard Frame
If you want, you can make a small cardboard board with a stand, for aesthetic reasons.
Step 7: NOW TEST IT! : D
It is necessary to connect the speaker and the source of the audio signal and direct the magnet to the center of the spiral. The closer the magnet, the louder the sound! At first I connected the speaker to the phone, but in order to hear the song, I had to practically lean against the speaker with my ear (you could use headphones with the same success). Then I connected the speaker to the old cassette recorder (whose amplifier was much more powerful) and the result pleased me! If you take the speaker in your hand, you can feel how it vibrates.
WARNING: DO NOT use this speaker for a long time and DO NOT connect it to amplifiers that are afraid to break.(I hooked up to a very old cassette recorder, so I had nothing to lose). DO NOT break expensive equipment!
I hope you enjoyed my idea!
