We decided to install a flexible LED strip on the headlights of a Subaru Impreza. Our goal was to simulate Audi optics without a large-scale and complex intervention in the design of headlights. In other words, we were not going to make any changes that could not be quickly and without special difficulties eliminated if necessary. The steps below describe how we have achieved this.
We took a 48 cm LED strip and laid it along the headlamp contour from above to see where we needed to cut it so that its length corresponded to the length of the upper border of the headlamp.
When cutting the tape, you must remember that the LEDs on it are located in groups of three. At the borders of these groups, you should make cuts, but watch out for the power wires - you must not cut them! We recommend that you be careful and be careful when performing this operation.
Also note that after cutting the tape, the place of the cut must be covered with glue from the glue gun to prevent water from penetrating inside and, as a result, damage to the internal wiring of the LED strip. Any other sealants, such as silicone, can also be used for these purposes.
Now that we have a piece of LED strip of the length we need, we need to use double-sided tape, which is the best in our case, which will hold the LED strip in place. Depending on the features of the device of the headlights of the car, we recommend that you use fixing with clamps during installation, as another way to fix the tape.
Recheck the tape length before marking to cut any pieces.
We adjusted the LEDs in place with the hood closed to be sure that the improvement looks as neat and invisible as possible.
In our case, we decided to replace the side lights auto these LED cilia. Although it was possible to make both of them work, we decided to abandon this path. As for powering the LEDs, all you need is a 12 V power supply.Thus, the supply wires merge with the wiring dimensions. Note: make sure you double check the polarity, otherwise you will have to redo the connections!
Do not forget to check that all wire connections are securely insulated with electrical tape, and the wires themselves are neatly fixed. As you could see for yourself, there is nothing complicated in installing an LED strip on the headlights of a car.
