A master class on how to make a machine for cutting tape from a plastic bottle of different thicknesses. The construction is strong and reliable, it does not use either glue or adhesive tape, only bolted joints. It is also easy to assemble and use.
Plastic tape can be used as a shrink tape for attaching beams, rebar, sticks. You can also weave from it various decorative products, use to decorate the interior, the main thing is to include your imagination.

To create a machine you will need:
- a piece of laminate or a flat board, not less than 15x15 cm in size;
- large washers;
- small washers, 2 pcs;
- nuts, 2 pcs;
- bolts, 2 pcs;
- a fragment of a clerical knife;
- drills, 2 pcs (different diameters);
- screwdriver;
- a pencil;
- wrench.
To check the operation of the machine:
- plastic bottle;
- scissors.
1. Start with the markup. We connect the two washers together and mark the holes.
2. We make the holes with two drills of different sizes: one to make the hole itself, the second to drown the head of the bolt. Therefore, the diameter of the drills must be selected accordingly.
First, it is better to drill a through hole with a small drill, then change it to a larger one and drill the resulting hole to the depth of the bolt head.
3. Insert the bolt into the holes obtained. It must be drowned. We put on a washer with a nut and twist it with a wrench. When the bolt is recessed, remove the nut and washer from it. We do the same with the second bolt.
4. To cut the tape in a width of two thicknesses, the washers should be laid on each bolt with two washers. Then we put on a bolt of a clerical knife blade. That is, the thickness of the tape will depend on the thickness and number of washers placed under the blade.
We lay at least one more washer on each bolt on top. It is necessary to put the blade so that its cutting edge touches the second bolt.
5. Align the washers and tighten the nuts.
The machine is ready. It can be fixed on the table with a self-tapping screw or clamp.
Cut off the bottom of the bottle. First we make an incision with scissors, the beginning of the tape.Then we push the tip into the machine, hold the bottle and pull the tape.
From a two-liter bottle, more than 35 meters of tape 1.5 mm thick is obtained. And two five-liter bottles are enough to tie the raft. The strength of the connection of such a raft is very high. After shrinkage, the nodes become one-piece, stronger and denser than twisting with a wire.
