The aquarium is not only a beautiful decorative element that can decorate the interior, but also has a calming effect on the human body. Today there are many types of aquariums that differ in appearance, design, size and so on. You can, of course, go to the nearest specialty store and purchase some kind of aquarium, however we advise you to try to make it yourself in home conditions.
First of all, we suggest watching a video in which the process of making an aquarium is carefully described.
So, in order to make an aquarium, we need:
- masking tape;
- scraper;
- blade for the scraper;
- impregnated paper napkins;
- scissors;
- cleaning cloths;
- aquarium silicone;
- silicone gun;
- cleaning paper;
- glass for assembling the aquarium.
At the very beginning, you should understand the type of glass. For an aquarium, use exclusively tempered glass.
The first step in our work should be glass cutting. Glass must be cut very carefully so that the edges are perfectly even. They must also be perfectly compatible. In total we need 5 pieces.
Next, take the masking tape and glue it along the edges of the sides of the aquarium. Begin with the side pieces. This is necessary in order to avoid silicone contamination. Glue the tape also very carefully and accurately. The protruding ends can be left to facilitate further removal of the tape.
After that, we will stop the lateral details of the aquarium to the bottom in order to accurately determine the places of coating with masking tape. It is important that the places where the glass parts should be joined together are not covered with tape.
Repeat the same process with the rest of the aquarium.
We place the aquarium silicone in the gun and cut off the tip of the silicone to the size we need.
We begin to cover with silicone one wide side of the bottom of the aquarium.
Next, install a wide sidewall.
Then we cover with silicone one edge of the narrow side of the bottom of the aquarium, as well as one vertical edge of the narrow sidewall, after which we install the side part in its place.
At this stage, it is important to ensure that the edges of the side parts of our aquarium as well as its bottom fit tightly together.
We remove excess silicone with a special silicone scoop.
Similarly, glue the remaining sidewalls.
When our aquarium is assembled, we need to immediately remove the masking tape.
After successfully removing the tape, we need to look again and make sure that all the parts are perfectly aligned. And after that we can leave the aquarium for three days, so that it is completely dry.
After three days, we clean the edges with a scraper, because there will certainly remain excess silicone.
Finally, you can test our aquarium for gluing quality. The surest way is to fill the aquarium with water. Using this technology, you can make a variety of aquariums, the height of which will not exceed 1000 mm.
