Photo and video enthusiasts often purchase lenses for their cameras. Sometimes you can not rush to go to the store for the next purchase of the lens and do everything in home conditions, having the necessary materials and tools. How exactly can this be done, we learn on the example of a Canon camcorder, for which the author homemade makes a wide angle lens.
As always, before starting work, we suggest watching the author’s video, with a description of the process
What do we need:
- diminutive glass;
- housing from the lens;
- aluminum rod;
- gas-burner;
- thread-cutting tool;
- nitro paint;
- epoxy
In the case of the author, the search for a diminutive glass and a lens housing did not require much effort, since according to his statement, an old Soviet lens was found at home, from which he removed the lens and glass. If you don’t have such a lens at home, you can buy it on the market for old things for almost a penny. When everything is clear with the materials, you can get to work.
So, first of all, we need to cut off all the excess from the lens body. The author does this on a special machine, but alternative tools can be used.
Next, make a hole with a diameter of 8 mm on the side of the case.
The next thing we need to make an adapter for the lens. We take an aluminum rod and sharpen it so as to obtain a diameter of 8 mm.
Check if the adapter is suitable.
Cut off the excess part of the aluminum rod.
The back side of the adapter is left wide, slightly corrected.
And we drill a through hole with a diameter of 4.9 mm.
Using the following thread-cutting tool, we cut the thread inside the hole.
Now we insert our adapter into the hole on the lens body and solder it. To do this, take solder for aluminum brazing, turn on the gas burner, heat the adapter and gradually cover the solder.
Next, warm up the frame and insert the adapter into the hole on the side, turning slightly and inserting deeper.
Now we put the workpiece on the lathe, because we need to cut one side of our lens barrel.
When one side was twisted, we turn the case to slightly cut and reduce the thickness of the walls.
Inside we make a small facet.
To avoid glare when shooting with our lens, we must paint it black inside. We take nitrokrsaku and paint her a frame and a lens.
Next, put the lens and the frame in the oven, set it to 50 degrees and dry the paint.
Our frame is ready. Now you can proceed to the next step, namely gluing the lens into it. Take the epoxy and apply it to the frame.
We insert the lens into the frame and wait until the epoxy hardens.
Our lens is ready. Now you can install it on the camera. For this, the author uses a special aluminum plate with two holes for a 6-screw.
One screw is screwed onto the lens, and the other at the tripod mount on the camera.
Our lens is ready.
