Probably everyone who did homemade from unnecessary CD / DVD discs I ran into the problem that cutting them with scissors is very difficult, and cutting a ring is almost impossible. The device will help and possibly give a new impetus to creativity, with virtually no material costs for its manufacture.
We will need:
- corks from plastic bottles - 4 pcs.
- a piece of plywood 300x300mm
- wooden blocks with a width of 50-80mm - 2 pcs.
- wooden block 30x30x15mm - 1 pc.
- aluminum corner, or channel, or rather rigid metal strip L ~ 300mm
- plastic box from under the CD / DVD
- a piece of copper wire to connect
- transformer 220 / 3-5v, 2A
- a piece of nichrome wire
- spring
- sewing needle
- carnations
- self-tapping screws
First, we drill a hole d ~ 8-12 mm in the center of the plywood sheet. From the hole we make a slot parallel to one of the sides of the sheet, 60 mm long.
From below under the hole we fasten the block with a 3/4 clove hammered into it, so that the cap is approximately under the center of the hole. The heads of the screws must be recessed. We screw corks from plastic bottles in the corners as legs.
On the other hand, we fasten the wooden bars - 2 pcs.
In the middle of the length of the aluminum corner we drill a hole d ~ 2.0-3.0 mm. And make a cut from it to the side. We twist the corner to the bars so that the hole is above the clove head and at the same time a tension device (aluminum corner + spring + copper hook wire). We heat the sewing needle red-hot and bend it with a hook.
We wind the end of the nichrome thread on the carnation. We pass the other end of the thread into the eye of the needle, bent in the form of a hook, insert it into the groove in the square and hook the needle onto the hook of the copper wire with a spring tension. The second wire from the transformer is connected to the aluminum corner. We turn on the transformer and get the filament so heated that it slowly cuts through the plastic of the disc (the filament does not light up at this temperature). This is important, otherwise a thread that is too hot will melt the cut. It is convenient to regulate the glow, connected in series, with a piece of nichrome thread, then it can be culturally wound on a ceramic base.
We try:
We drill a hole in the CD, insert a nichrome thread into it, put it into the hook from the sewing needle, insert it into the groove in the square and hook the needle onto the hook of the copper wire with a spring tension. We dress the disk on the axis of rotation. We adjust the axis along the groove in plywood. Lock the axis with a screw from below. Slowly rotate the disc, return to the drilled hole.
Can be used device like a jigsaw, if you unscrew the axis of rotation, so as not to interfere.
