For work we need: PVA glue or thick paste, cooked from flour, gouache, small nails, 1.5 m self-adhesive film, thick braid or thin wooden planks 1.5 cm wide, as well as gauze or thin old cotton bedclothes , for the most extravagant option - toilet paper.
First, we coat the end of the door with a mixture of PVA glue with brown gouache (Fig. 1), and do not be afraid that part of the door will be painted. Then leave the butt to dry for a day. Then carefully draw a rectangle on the door, laying aside 20 cm from all sides. Next, glue the film “under the tree” onto this rectangle. Then along the edge of the door from all four sides it is necessary to nail the strips, also do along the edge of the film. Also process the second side of the door.
Instead of wooden planks, you can use cardboard. It is simple to make them: we bend a thick sheet of cardboard 5 times to obtain a strip 1.5 mm thick and 1.5 cm wide. We coat the last layer with PVA glue and put it under the load for a day (Fig. 2). The number of planks will depend on the size of your door and the size of the rectangle from the film. When everything dries, paint the planks with a mixture of brown gouache and PVA glue. In an hour, everything will dry out and it will be possible to nail our trims to the edge of the door and along the edge of the rectangle from the film. Unattractive joints are formed between the planks, in order to get rid of them, we will make the composition: PVA glue, flour, gouache. The composition should be very thick. Apply this mixture with a hard brush to the nailed planks. By quick, shock movements of the brush we create a relief pattern, carefully masking the joints. As a result, we get beautiful solid bars. Now the turn has come to gauze, old cloth or toilet paper. Yes, don’t be surprised, the finer the raw materials used, the more effective the drapery will be. And in no case do not use a new fabric - it does not absorb moisture well. We need a composition: PVA glue or a paste made of flour (you can both), beige gouache. We moisten small pieces of fabric in this composition, squeeze it slightly, straighten it a little and put it on the door between the planks, drape it nicely using tweezers or a sharp knife. The door should dry all day.Then we’ll walk along the beige drapery with a brush moistened with a mixture of dark brown gouache and PVA glue, and a very interesting decorative effect will appear. It would be very good now to coat the door with varnish, at least for hair. As a result, you will have a beautiful door that will cost you quite inexpensively, and you will have the impression that it is trimmed with cramped leather.
