Grind the barrel
Turn a wine barrel into an interesting nightstand

After you find the barrel, wash it, let it dry completely.

Now remove the rim from the barrel, if they are poorly removed, use a hammer.

To start work, install the barrel on an old blanket so that you do not cause damage during operation.

Use a grinder and clean the surface of the barrel. Secure the result with sandpaper.

Working with rims

Using a hammer, lower the rim as far as possible. Use a centimeter tape to make sure that it is lowered evenly and mark its place with a pencil. Now wrap the barrel with tape - apply glue to the rim and carefully put it on the barrel. Do the same with the second, smaller in diameter. The placement of the two hoops should be as shown in the photo.

Cut out the door

Use a hacksaw and a jigsaw for this step. We start cutting the door with a hacksaw, and you can finish it with a jigsaw on the inside. The location of the doors will be between the rims. You must cover eight sticks. Glue them with tape, cut the boards as evenly as possible, because any vibrations will be visible.

We glue the doors together
Align future doors to the same length, and with glue, connect 4 planks in turn.

When you apply glue, wrap each door with tape so that they stick together securely. After drying completely, use a sanding machine or sandpaper to get rid of glue residue.

We clean the inside of the barrel

Use the scraper to clean the barrel. After this, vacuum to remove dirt and sand with sandpaper.Vacuum the inside again.

Use a damp cloth to wipe the inside of the drum from dust.

Create shelves

Measure the barrel diameter in the places where the shelves will be located. From cardboard, make a shelf template and place it in a barrel, draw a line from one side of the doorway to the other. Move the template to plywood and cut the shelves.

If desired, you can process them with sandpaper, and then varnish or paint.

Set the brackets for the shelves. Level level the surface and, if necessary, align the base of the barrel.
