Started construction tracked all-terrain vehicle Om May 12, 2014, completed July 13, 2015.
So I will begin the story about the om-terrain vehicle "Om", which is created by the author of the topic from the site Alexander. He is published there under the nickname magestiq. Sasha from the city of Kuibyshev, an avid hunter and fisherman. This passion prompted him to build an all-terrain vehicle.
The design and construction itself was carried out on weekends and during the holidays.
As always, everything that is at hand from old spare parts is used first.
Engine from the VAZ four.
A bridge from an old classic.
Pneumohydraulic brake booster.
Gearbox from GAZ-69.
Cardan from the classics, redone, but with outboard bearing.
Clutch cable drive, cables from Moskvich.
Driving wheels.
supporting
and tension from a VAZ car.
Self-made welded caliper mount
The frame is welded from a square, sheathed with steel sheet, since all-terrain vehicle must swim and force water barriers.
Wheel axles are made of pipe with a wall thickness of 5 mm.
The axles of the support wheels are welded to the frame tightly.
The caterpillar is made of tape with the fastening of guides made of HDPE (low pressure polyethylene) to it.
The teeth on the caterpillar are made of a pipe 50x50x3.
Initially, it was planned to install the front half of the body from the four instead of the cab,
But during the assembly it turned out that this is not a very convenient option, so we came to the conclusion that the welded home-made option will be easier and more convenient.
