Manufacturing process
Step one. Body Bait Preparation
As the body, that is, the volumetric part, foam rubber will be used. The body is made according to the same principle as the foam carrots of the "carrot" type. Only in this case, the narrow part must be cut off from the bait. That's all, this wide part will be the body of the bait.
As for the foam, it can be anything, but the game of the bait will depend on the density of the foam. If it is coarse-grained foam rubber, then it will absorb moisture as quickly as possible and the bait will become as flexible and realistic as possible during posting.
Foam of solid species will float, and when immersed, the bait will always be in a vertical state from the bottom. The disadvantage of this foam rubber is that it practically does not bend and the game of the bait will be boring. The best option can be considered medium density foam rubber.
As for color, it can also be any. As a result, the bait will still need to be painted.
When the foam blank is finished, you can immediately insert a hook into it. In this case, a double is used. There are several ways to install the hook. The easiest way to do this is to puncture the foam rubber.Some other fishermen cut the foam, install a hook, and then glue the place of the cut. This method is bad because the dried glue changes the plastic foam and changes the game of the bait.
Step Two Creating the tail
To create a tail, you need to take a twister and cut off the back of it. The tail is cut so that it has a wide part with a length slightly less than half of the entire wide part. Further, this wide part of the bait is cut in half, as indicated in the picture.
By the way, if there are already twisters bitten by a pike or other fish in the arsenal, they can be given a second chance by making this version of the bait.
After that, the foam part of the bait is taken and a longitudinal section is made through the whole body to the hook. Now you need to take the glue and glue this cut from the inside. After that, the tail from the twister is inserted into the incision. For bonding to occur, you need to gently squeeze the place where the tail is fixed with your fingers. While the glue has not yet dried, the installation site of the tail is additionally fixed with threads. You need to make a couple of turns around the place of attachment of the tail. Then a thin stick is taken, for example, a toothpick, and with the help of it glue is impregnated with thread.
After that, you can proceed to the final stage of manufacture.
You can also say a few words about the hooks used. If soft foam will be used, it is better to set the hooks so that they only barely look out of the foam. Such a bait will perfectly circumvent many underwater obstacles. If the foam rubber is solid, then it will be difficult for the fish to squeeze it, so the stings of the hooks should look stronger.
Step Three Painting and impregnation with attractants
To make the bait even more attractive, it can be painted. Colors can be varied, it all depends on the place of fishing. If it is a sandy bottom, baits should be painted in dark colors. Well, against the background of the dark bottom, baits of light tones will be clearly visible. The back is best painted in dark shades, and the stomach in light. This is the color that most fish have.
Immediately before fishing, the bait can be impregnated with an attractant. The smell that comes from the gear will cause even more interest in the bait.
