Potato planter-hitch for walk-behind tractor

Potato planter-hitch for walk-behind tractor

With the onset of the spring summer garden season, it is time to plow and prepare land for future planting and sowing. The most difficult time, especially if your site is not small in size, for example, as in a village where the kitchen gardens are the smallest in area of thirty hundred square meters, or even more. This can include summer residents from whom cottages are in rural areas, having such an allotment of fertile land, the question naturally arises of the use of any auxiliary mechanical means and units.

From ancient times, man used horses and ramparts to cultivate his allotment of land in order to simplify his already difficult physical work. With the advent of mechanization and the industrialization of labor, agricultural machinery assumed the bulk of the load. But in a series of recent changes, the life of a villager has declined in technical equipment and replaced the powerful industrial agro-complex with farming and a private farmstead. But our people do not lose heart and live from their garden and come up with new ones fixtures facilitating the conduct of business on earth. Our people are very generous in fiction, since prices for agricultural units are not affordable for a simple villager or summer resident.

The author, having a moto block in his household, decided to make an additional unit for it, because buying in a store would be very expensive. Having a large area for planting potatoes, you have to sweat a lot when planting it, so our author came up with the idea to make a potato planter do it yourself.

What is this unit? Works in conjunction with the motoblock acting as a hitch and has a hopper for seed, sowing is carried out by a chain mechanism with scoops driven from the drive wheels of the unit. Scoops scoop up potatoes and feed it into a directing bell then falls into the ground. That's essentially the whole principle of operation of this unit.

Now, in detail, we consider what the author needed to create this sample and what is required for this.

Materials: corner, professional square tube, 6 mm steel wire, wheels, gear, chain, 2 mm thick metal.
Instruments: welding machine, grinder, drill, hammer, set of keys, pliers.

And so the first thing he does is frame the future unit and drive the tuber feed mechanism.

Further, the author made a guide rod and bolted the wheels.

Then makes a hopper

The potato sowing mechanism is made in such a way that the scoop grabs the potato from the hopper and feeds it to the guide bell and subsequently falls into the ground.

Fastens the device for coupling with the motoblock.

That's essentially the whole design is ready and the author has already gone to the field to plant potatoes.

The potato planter was tested on the land, there were no shortcomings, everything works fine. Our designer is very pleased with his design.

You can’t call it a hitch, trailed unit. Already read about him elsewhere. I liked it, I even have an idea to do this. But for such a design, you need a good walk-behind tractor.
