I decided to build a bath, the room is ready. The question remained behind the stove, namely, how to make a heating element (on which water is poured). I would like it to be exclusively made of stone, without metal. How to do this?

For example, if you take stones and fill them with cement, will such a design live under thermal overloads? If done on clay, it will erode when water gets on the stones ...

For all the brick baths I can’t say, but with a heater with direct heating (when the flue gases pass through the stones) for sure! Of course, a brick kiln does not tolerate thermal shocks well - in winter you have to burn a bookmark the day before, so that tomorrow it’s warm to its full height. But comfortable, very. The difference is very large, although more troubles. Yes, and he dries the wet bath after the procedures perfectly, several days after the bath he has hot water.

My bath is coniferous log cabin not warmed by anything, from not thick logs. Shelf of aspen, it burns less. Only stewed fruit in the bathhouse, and more often - simple cold water from the spring. I don’t really like to douche, too, but barefoot in the deep fresh snow in winter - yes. Pleasure. And addicted to the child.

And in between - it is precisely to "whip" yourself with icy streams from the shower! And the body does not cool at all and the massage is awesome - the whole reddening, the sensation of heat passes, and sweat continues to pour!

This is quite traumatic, especially in small steam rooms: the slightest touch on the metal - and a serious burn! That's why I liked that way - you won’t touch the metal, but the stones are not so heat-conducting, you won’t "bum" and there will not be a piece of meat left on the grill if you touch!
.... Monolith is not necessary there !!! Let the air buzz freely between the stones - it needs to heat up !!! After all, for a dry sauna you need the air to be 100-120 degrees !!! If you spray water (it is spray, rather than pouring), then in a "wet" pair you can not stand more than 80 !!! The steam room, although it is tightly closed, is usually lined with foil under the lining, but it is still necessary to warm it up to a frantic temperature! Red stones are NONSENS !!! And what will be the temperature in the steam room? 200? So in dry, without steam, you live for about three minutes)))))))

Cover the smallest gaps with sand or pour liquid clay. You get such a monolith. I only worry that cracks will form and smoke will flow through them. So on top I think to pour a layer of coarse sand.
