How to make a simple bed frame made of wood

Good day to all.

Today in furniture stores a huge amount of different of furniture, it may differ in appearance, size, material, etc. It is enough for us to point a finger at the photo in the catalog, and in a couple of hours it will be at our place. But unfortunately, not everyone can afford to do this, due to the fact that prices are very high.

The author of this article suggests that we choose a more economical option, namely to make furniture do it yourself. It's about our own home-made bed, which we will make step by step with you!

And now about everything in detail!

We will need

Material:

- 2 boards 5x10 cm long 240 cm;
- 4 boards 5x15 cm 240 cm long;
- 13 slats 2.5x7.5 cm 240 cm long;
- Screws for oblique connection to a length of 40 mm and 60 mm;
- self-tapping screws 60 mm long
- carpentry glue;
- paint;
- putty on wood.

Tool:

- screwdriver;
- hacksaw for wood;
- clamps;
- drill jig.

First of all, let's start by cutting wood, for this we use the existing cutting tool. The size of the workpieces of the structure is chosen according to the size of our mattress. I give an example of the size of foreign firms.

Let's proceed to the assembly of the bed frame.

It may seem that putting everything together is very difficult and not feasible, but it’s easier than it seems, the more we have already done the bulk of the preparatory work, so we will not stop there, continue!

First of all, we assemble the front and rear walls of the structure, we will fasten using an oblique connection, for this we need to use a drilling jig.

Front side of the bed

Rear end

Next, we take the sidewalls and connect them to the front and back sections, we fix the boards together using several clamps, this will simplify the screwing in of screws.

Then you need to strengthen the design with the help of corner inserts, we place them on four sides, fasten to the screws.

Then we retreat 5 cm from the upper lateral edge of the side, and with the help of carpentry glue we fasten the rail along the entire length of the sidewall, it will serve as a support for the slatted bottom of the bed, in addition we fix it with self-tapping screws.

In the middle of the structure, you need to install a support beam, which will also serve as a support for the rack bottom. In the center of the beam, add another leg. This is recommended for double beds, in the case of one and a half beds, the supporting leg is not required.

The supporting beam should be placed at the same level with the lower part of the structure, while the upper part should be at the same height as the side rails.

Now it’s time to install the rack bottom, put the first and last rails right next to the walls of the frame, and place the rest at a distance of 10 cm from each other.

Here the bed itself is almost ready. Set the head to the frame. Next, you need to slightly treat the surface of the boards. In order to hide all the bumps and joints, we use putty on wood, then we grind the surface and paint the frame. The author applied two coats of paint before assembling the structure and one coat after.

It remains to do the most enjoyable part of the work.
We put the mattress, cover it with your favorite bedding, lie down on it and indulge in a sweet sleep with a sense of accomplishment!

Thanks for attention!
Have a good rest!

yes Yes, you gave the blunder.
I didn’t read about the bed, I looked through it fluently. Well done not very, to say the least. It caught my eye; - wooden corners, poor and not practical, only metal with a "hook" on the sides.
The rack bottom will eventually bend to the floor. It is required to perform it from thick plywood (as more durable), for each half separately, with a bulge to the top. It is so fast.
