Jewelry

Jewelry, or jewelry, it’s brooches, beads, bracelets. How many are now everywhere - bright, sparkling with gold, mother of pearl, glowing with aniline dyes. Competing with branded products is not easy, but still worth a try. All done do it yourself and differs from mass samples, especially valuable. We offer

several original and simple ideas (Fig. 10).

1. Jewelry made of beads and safety pins. For this work, pick up: safety pins of three sizes 35-40, 28 and 23 mm, beads of several colors from any material (glass, plastic, wood) and thick threads. The size of the beads depends on the pins. It is necessary that the beads strung on a pin enable it to fasten. In addition, it is desirable to completely cover one side of the pin with beads, leaving a minimum of open metal. Usually two or three beads are placed on a pin. To connect pins with strung beads, a strong nylon thread or soft wire is required.
The work must be carried out in the following order:

I. String the beads on each pin, varying the colors as you wish, and fasten them.
2. When all the pins are ready, start collecting beads or a bracelet from them. To do this, thread the thread on one side into the ring of pins, and on the other into the holes of the fasteners, alternating the pins.
To understand the principle of work, try to assemble a brooch. On three identical pins, string two (or three) beads and fasten the pins. Then connect them together from both ends with the same pins, alternating: pin - bead - pin - bead - pin. On one side, attach one more fastener to two vertical pins. By the same principle, you can also assemble a bracelet. To do this, string six pins horizontally on each vertically placed pin, placing them alternately to the right and left.
For an 18 cm long bracelet, you need 10 pins 23 mm each and two pins 35 mm each (for the clasp). Put the large beads on nine pins and the small one on the tenth. Button up the pins. Assemble a bracelet with a thread or wire from above and below, alternating pins with three multi-colored beads. Fasten the ends of the threads. The last pin on which the little bead is worn is needed for the fastener. The clasp is made of two pins.
To assemble a necklace (its detail is shown in Fig. 9), pins with pre-strung beads must be connected with each other with a thread, complementing the horizontal rows with free beads. The necklace can be made of both two and three rows, which are located in front in the form of a shirt-front. Behind is either a single row of beads, or a lace or leather tie.
For a necklace of three rows you will need: 20 pins 35 mm long for the first row (near the neck); 19 pins of 28 mm for the second row; 34 pins of 23 mm for the third row - for pendants. The number of beads depends on the chosen color combination. Pearl bead jewelry is a good addition to a vibrant summer ensemble.

II. Beads from a wide variety of seeds and seeds. In Figure 10, you see beads from melon seeds. Beads from watermelon seeds look about the same. To diversify the color scheme, melon seeds can be tinted by dropping them in a stain, potassium permanganate solution or in any aniline dye.
Seeds for future beads need to be washed from fruit juice, slightly dried and, not allowing them to dry completely, threaded.
Figure 10 shows acorns beads. It is better to collect not very large acorns. Hats from them will do. Acorns of small-leaved oak, which grows in the south, are good. You can combine acorns and hats in a very different order. Between them, make knots on a thread. The thread for lowering should be thick enough. Acorns and bones can be varnished for wood.
Bones from cherries, peaches, plums or chestnuts can also be material for beads. Original beads will be made from date seeds. But you have to drill the bones on both sides with a hand drill with a drill of 1.5-2 mm or burn a hole with a red-hot needle. In both cases, the bones should be clamped in a vice.

III. Take a small piece of pulp of fresh rye bread. Mash it by adding a little casein or wood glue and fine river sand. Mix everything well. The mass should be tight and lagging behind the fingers. From it you can roll any bead balls of round, oblong and oblate shape. Use a small pointed stick (match) to apply relief texture to the beads - dots, stripes, zigzags. Very interesting beads will be obtained if small pieces of colored glass or beads are pressed into the mass, creating an inlay or mosaic effect. In each bead, pierce a hole for stringing with a needle or knitting needle and leave to dry for two to three days. Dry beads can be painted with paints - gouache or tempera. Collecting beads, you can alternate the made beads with any others. Beads made of bread mass are very similar to ceramic or clay ones - they are just as durable, but lighter.

In any clothing, a harmonious ensemble can only be achieved with accessories. You can not wear a bright yellow thing if something does not complement it in the kit.
