In this article, the Wizard will tell us how to make a small water pump from a video card cooling fan. Such a pump runs on 12 V and can be used in mini-pools, waterfalls.
To make a mini pump, the Master used the following
Tools and materials:
-3D printer;
-Epoxy adhesive;
-Super glue;
-Soldering iron;
-Aerosol paint;
-Sandpaper;
-Fan;
-Knife;
-Nippers;
-Clip "Third hand";
Step one: disassembling the engine
For the pump, the Master takes a brushless motor from a video card with characteristics of 12 V, 0.5 A.
Remove the plastic ring from the shaft. Removes fan and bearings. Cleans parts from dust.
Removes septum. Only the middle part will be needed for the pump. It processes its outer part with sandpaper.
Step Two: Wiring
Many engines of this type have three contacts:
black - earth
red - plus 12 V
yellow - tachometer sensor.
This motor had four outputs:
black - earth
red - plus 12 V
gray - tachometer sensor
blue - PWM
The master solders all the wires and solders the two-wire to the ground and plus 12 V.
Step Three: Water Resistant
Now you need to assemble the engine and made it waterproof.
Stir the epoxy glue. Coat the board with glue and install the winding. It wraps tape around the winding and also covers with epoxy.
Step Four: Painting
Apply paint from a cylinder to the motor. In this case, the paint serves as an additional protection against water.
Step Five: Bearing
The master does not recommend replacing the ball bearing. Here its role will be played by a bronze sleeve of a suitable size.
Step Six: 3D Printing
On the 3D printer, the wizard prints the necessary details. Details links below.
Detail 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.
Step Six: Build
Superglue sticks the shaft to the magnet, and the impeller sticks to the shaft.
Installs the pump housing.
The pump is ready, and its work and the process of its manufacture can be seen in the video.
