A tailboard named Amphibian

Dear friends, I want to tell you about how I built one of my most interesting, slow-flying, models that does not require additional devices to stabilize flights.

After I saw the drawings of this model, I got a burning desire to build a similar model from a polystyrene foam insulation.

Large gray, matte sheets measuring 1200 X 50 x 20 mm. I bought in the construction market, at a price of 80r. Per sheet. I bought three sheets. I have repeatedly used it in the construction of my models.
Dissolve one sheet by foam cutting on sheets with a thickness of 15 mm.
For the wing I used two sheets, 20 mm thick.

The scale of the model is chosen so that the wing fits on two sheets.

Two wing blanks glued together.

I went through many options for the nose of the model, until I found an acceptable one.

Not without the use of ceiling tiles.
Loved the nose of the fuselage in this photo. I decided to do the same.

Built a cabin.

A lantern was cut from a piece of plastic bottle.

I cut out the pilot’s figure and pasted everything into the fuselage.

Cut the keel.

When trying on the wing, he doubted the size. The main thing is that the screw I need fits in the keel slot. I want to note that, if necessary, you can cut a hole for the screw in the wing and keel body to put a larger diameter screw.

While the glue was drying, I began to tape over the upper plane of the wing with tape.
Scotch tape imitates aluminum foil.

He began to establish the lower part of the fuselage and redans.

I make all the superstructures on the wing from thin sheets of insulation, which I cut with a foam cutter. He made the bow of the cab from the ceiling.

I prepared bulkheads for the fuselage, measured and glued.

The turn reached the ailerons. They were cut right in the wing and hung on tape.

Finished pasting the top of the fuselage.
With the fuselage, I finished it all, I hung the PH.
So unnoticed, the carcass of the model turned out. It remains to glue the boars, servos, put the motor and connect the rods.

Last pictures on the slipway.

I found the CT, checked how it behaves on the water.

Characteristic of the model.
Length - 1560 mm.
Span - 1060 mm
Weight - about 1650 g.
Motor - D3548 / 4 1100KV
Screw - 11x7.
Battery - 3300 4S
The regulator is 80 A.
Servos - NHT900.

He presented the model to a friend.

He immediately crashed the front of the fuselage. The first flights flew with a broken “face”.

At the request of a friend, the editor of the Yegoryevskoye Morning newspaper came to take photographs. A week later, a report on the flights of the model was published in.

Later, I repaired the model.
A very decent view.

In order not to lose the model bought a signal beacon in electronic products.

The beacon turns on if necessary (when searching for a model), on the transmitter with a toggle switch,

So he stands on the model.

A few short videos about flying.
The first take-off model.

Trying to run the model yourself.

Flight models for the press.

Evening flight.

I say goodbye to this, Your Valerian.
