Real-time model of the Sun-Earth system

Master called this model Earth Clock. This model shows in real time which part of the Earth is currently illuminated by the Sun.
Let's watch the video.

Such a model can be used as a detail of the interior of a room or office, or as a teaching aid at school.
To make the model, the Master used the following

Tools and materials:
-LEDs;
-Wire;
-Insulating tape;
-Glue;
-Soldering accessories;
-Wire;
- Plastic ball 100 mm;
-Color printer;
-Blue paint;
- brush;
-Plywood;
-Arduino;
- 5V voltage stabilizer;
-Two stepper motors;
-Two transistors ULN2003;
-Nest;
-Connector;
-Fasteners;
-Bread board;
- Potentiometer 10 kOhm;
-Two diodes 1418;
-Two ceramic capacitors 100 nF;
Clock module on NE555;
3-pin connector;
-Various tool;

Step One: LED Ring
In nature, the sun's rays illuminate about 50% of the Earth at the same time. So, as a narrow beam cannot illuminate 50% of the spherical surface, the master decided for his model to make an LED ring of the same diameter as the globe.

The diameter of the globe will be 100 mm. From the wire, the master bends two rings, one with a diameter of 100 mm, the other a little less. Between the rings sets 12 LEDs. Solder the LED contacts to the rings. One ring will be positive, the other negative. At the bottom of the soldered plug.

Step Two: The Globe
The basis of the globe is a plastic ball. On the printer, the master printed a scan of the Earth and stuck it on the ball. Empty places painted over with blue and blue paint.

Step Three: Foundation
The master made the base of 5 mm plywood. Cut out the parts. Glued with wood glue. Covered under the "oak" and polished.

Step Four: Scheme
To control the model, the master mounted electronics according to the following scheme.

The PWM module is assembled according to the scheme below.

The master module redid the clock a bit by adding two buttons and a seven-segment display.

Step Five: Code
The code for Arduino can be downloaded from the link below.

Step Six: Engines
The model has two stepper motors. One is responsible for the daily rotation of the Earth around the axis, the second for the annual around the sun.The angle of inclination of the axis 23 °.

The model is ready.
