Aircraft model - Zigzag McCrack biplane

Hello lovers homemade!
I have repeatedly turned to aircraft models, the so-called "cartoons." But the author of the article about which I want to tell you took the prototype for his aircraft model, the biplane of the unsuccessful pilot Zigzag from the animated series Duck Tales. I hope you remember this "cartoon".
Aircraft model - Zigzag McCrack biplane

Of course, there were no drawings of this plane, and the author, having made several photographs of this red little biplane, drew his drawings on a sheet of whatman paper, on which he built this model.

It is felt that the author was very thoroughly prepared for the construction of this model, because, like any details of the Zigzag biplane, they did not pass by the gaze of the author.

The author began his work on creating a model with partitions for the fuselage, which the author calls frames.

All frames are marked on the ceiling and neatly cut out.

Particularly precisely, it is necessary to mark and make holes in the frames for installing an axial, guide, aluminum tube, on which all frames are mounted.

Next, a longitudinal insert is made into the lower part of the frames and glued into place, in pre-prepared grooves, firmly fastening all the frames together.

The author calls this insert - a stringer (or keel), the Insert is made of three layers of the ceiling, between which the newspaper is laid, however, I still do not understand why the newspaper is laid?

The fuselage skin is mounted on the lower ribs of the frames.

Further, the author makes a complex structure of wooden rulers, on which the wings will be mounted.

The lower fuselage skin is made in two layers of the ceiling.

The author begins installation of the side fuselage skins.

The blanks are cut out, adjusted in place and glued.
Until the glue is fully polymerized, the casing is fixed with pins.

Bolts on the upper wing are fixed with epoxy.

Circles for engine mounts are made of plywood from orange boxes and mounted on both sides of the frame.
Four nuts for bolts are glued to the mugs with an epoxy. A motor will be mounted on them.

Servos will be installed on the panels glued from two layers of the ceiling.

Wiring is in progress.

Servos are mounted.

The upper fuselage skin is installed. For a better bend, the ceiling can be pushed from the inside with an ordinary dining fork. Rusts are made along the fuselage.

Covers for motor and servos are prepared.

Magnets are mounted in the covers.
As if, there are loops.

The model is painted with acrylic paint.
A partition is glued in the cockpit.

Cut the windshield out of a PET bottle.

The windshield is glued into place.

Painting of individual parts of the hood and fuselage.

Here the fuselage tip cut out from the Penoplex insulation piece will be attached.

Engine construction details are cut out.

The assembly of the lower wing begins.

A small V corner is made on the lower wing.

Ailerons are hung on loops made of thin packaging tape.

So the ends of the wing stick together.

Servos are installed, wires are pulled through.

Finished wing with mounted ailerons.

Set hogs.

Traction connected.

The upper wing repeats the design of the lower, only it is straight and has a cutout.

Racks are made of bamboo sticks lined with Penoplex insulation. At the ends of the racks glued without caps.

The central struts are made of pieces of wooden rulers.

There are general outlines of the model.

The stabilizer is made of two layers of the ceiling. Strengthens with thin strips of a wooden ruler.

The stabilizer is trying on the rear of the fuselage. Before mounting the tail unit, be sure to pull the aluminum tube out of the frames.

The process of painting model details.

This is how the thrust for the launch vehicle and the launch vehicle looks.

Bowden sticks made from sticks from a balloon are pasted, you can use sticks of Chip-Chups candies or “ear sticks”.

For the manufacture of landing gear and wheels used porous foam rubber, taken from the packaging of a laptop, plastic from cards, wire and plywood from orange boxes.

At first, everything was drawn on paper, the dimensions were put down.

Here is a rack for the chassis turned out.

The stand is clamped between two plywood plates with a bolt that is screwed into the nut secured with an epoxy.

Wheel assembly process.

Putting the landing gear in place.

Dimensions of the model.
Span - 1000 mm.
Flight weight - 980 g.
Electronics.
Motor - D3530 / 14 1100 Kv.

Screw - 11 X 4.7.

The cook is black, aluminum - 38 mm.

The battery is 3S 1200 mAh.

Traction lock.

Plastic hogs.

The regulator is 30A.

Servos - TG9e.

And it does not matter that the model did not take off the air the first time, the main thing is that it was created.
Now you need to accurately determine the CT model and balance it.

If necessary, you can put another motor, more powerful, with more traction and the corresponding screw.
The next model you built will be the model of the next aircraft built by Zigzag MacDoug named Thunderbolt.

I have no doubt about that. Such ideas are in the air.

Thanks for such a beautiful model!
Thing! And I almost forgot how he looks.
As the author of this miracle, I can say one thing: he’s a cartoon in Africa and a cartoon, you need either a very powerful power plant, or something needs to be done with the muzzle, reducing its drag ...
