In the instructions, we will discuss how to make a gas saw based on a chainsaw. With the help of such a drill, the author easily drills a log with a drill with a diameter of 36 mm, but a screwdriver practically does not cope with this task. Of course, holes of this diameter are also far from the limit for such a gasoline drill.
In fact, we get a nozzle for a chainsaw, that is, the design of the saw does not change at all. Of course, you can also drill holes with conventional drills, here you use a conventional drill chuck. Homemade manufacturing process:
Step one. Gearbox repair
Homemade is assembled on the basis of an old gearbox from an electric drill. It must be disassembled, washed well and see if nothing inside is broken. Well, then dry the parts and grease well with fresh grease.
Step Two Stub
We need to cut out the plug, which is installed in the place where the rest of the drill used to be attached. Cut out a piece of thick sheet steel. Here, the author went to the grinder, belt sander, and also a drilling machine. For fastening, we drill 4 holes in the corners and cut into them a thread for screws.
Here we need to install a cage for the bearing, its author made of steel pipe. If the pipe does not have the required diameter, it can be bored on a lathe, as the author. Well, then we press the bearing into the cage in a vice. You can install the axis and weld the clip to the plug installed earlier.To get the axis, cut off a piece of the anchor and clean the resulting piece of the axis of glue and other dirt. That's all, center the axis and weld the clip. After that we are convinced that nothing wedges anywhere and the axis rotates easily.
Step Three Star adapter
For a convenient and "painless" connection of the nozzle to the chainsaw, we need to make a special adapter, with which we will cling to the asterisk. We remove the sprocket from the saw and, pressing it against thick sheet steel, paint the workpiece. When we remove the asterisk, we get the contours of the future part. Turn the part using all available tools, first drill the core, and then work with files, a drill and so on.
When the necessary part will be made, we weld to it a piece of pipe with such an inner diameter that the shaft from the drill gearbox fits tightly into it. We will connect the shaft with the adapter using a pin, so that we drill a hole of the corresponding diameter.
Step Four Fastener
The homemade product is almost ready, now we need a fastener to install the nozzle on a chainsaw. We cut out the necessary part from sheet steel, carefully marking everything out. That's all, now we need to connect the part to the gearbox, here we need the adapter part, for which the author used a piece of steel pipe.
After welding, paint the metal parts so that the homemade product does not rust. That's all, you can go to field trials.
Step Five Experiencing
First, the author demonstrates how a screwdriver copes with the work, the loads for him turn out to be very large. But our gas drill can cope with the same task without much effort, the author easily drills the column through and through, and the drill is used of a rather large diameter.
