I have one hobby - gasoline / kerosene heating and lighting devices. More than once, I took gas stoves and kerosene lamps with me on a trip. But recently I replenished my collection with another unit - a high-pressure kerosene lamp. On the expanses of the former and the mighty, such devices are little known, since on the open spaces such devices were not produced. So little known that so far many people are not aware of their existence, since it simply passed by, and is not in demand now. Nevertheless, it is, and in a certain circle is popular. Which, in general, is not surprising. A rather large amount of energy is contained in kerosene, such a lamp is capable of emitting a luminous flux, equivalent to a two-watt incandescent lamp, for seven hours, spending about 700 milliliters of kerosene. This is purely empirical evidence.
But now I'm not talking about lamps. Such a miracle of technology is quite weighty and requires good transportation conditions. Perhaps this is precisely why these lamps did not receive distribution among us. This article is about a home-made cover for such a lamp.
I have to say right away that you will not see specific patterns. For these lamps are of different sizes. I will describe only the technology. Although it is so primitive that no one will have problems.
And so, you will need:
Dense waterproof fabric. In the fabric store I was told that this fabric for awnings on trailers and boats. A running meter is enough with the head.
Thin cloth. The usual lining, I took the average price with a pattern, well, I liked it. Also running meter.
Synthetic winterizer. Normal sintepon, 2-3 centimeters.
Well and on trifles, tapes that would hide a seam, snakes.
Well, from the tool it’s clear, a sewing machine. Here I want to focus on those who do not have a sewing machine. Especially for this, an old Singer sewing machine was purchased.
And completely restored. Why am I writing this. The fact is that buying a machine, the cost of restoring it, the cost of material for a cover in total cost me almost like the cost of a branded cover. Yes, I didn’t save anything. But now I have an additional tool in the face of a sewing machine, which I'm sure will come in handy more than once. And also experience, and it is priceless. If there is a machine, the cost price of the case is about $ 8-10.
And so, we sew a cover. The dimensions are removed from the lamp, you need to sew the box with one open side.
In my case, it was necessary to cut out rectangles of 41x18 centimeters for the sides and a square of 18x18 centimeters for the bottom. 0.5-1 centimeter on each side must be thrown for stitching. At this stage, I decided that it would be nice to embellish the cover, and went to my friend, who prints on T-shirts.
Firmware.
Inside, the finished parallelepiped is sheathed with a lining, to which the synthetic winterizer is pre-fastened. A synthetic winterizer in this case is preferable, since foam rubber tends to “rot” over time.
By the way, I laced on the same Singer. To do this, loosen the foot stand bolt and raise it higher. The material is stretched by hand. You need to get used to it a little bit, but everything goes. At least for such small sizes. A quilt in such a way to quilting, of course, will not work. At this point, you can try on a lamp. It turns out pretty well.
All seams eventually hide under a fabric tape.
The top cap is sewn inside out and is twisted through a snake.
I made the cap on the principle of a valve in a mountain backpack. It contains consumables and tools.
The cap itself is hemmed with a piece of the same tent fabric.
By the way. When you open the cap, do not forget to insert the handle. I forgot, I had to rip and flash again.
Well, the end result.
I know that the description came out very mediocre. He sewed such a product for the first time and in the process completely immersed himself in work, having forgotten about more intermediate photos. Nevertheless, I hope that it will be useful to someone. Good luck to everyone in your work!
