Convert cordless drill to li-ion 18650 batteries

Hello everybody. Do not rush to throw out the battery of the drill that has expired. Batteries can be replaced with lithium 18650.

For this you need to purchase
1- charging unit for 3 batteries at 12.6 volts, 20 A ()
2- 3 18650 lithium batteries at 4.2 V

Block itself

Or such

We solder the batteries according to this scheme, the wire is preferably thick.

Another module

We disassemble the old battery, remove all elements except two, which are with plus and minus contacts.

We solder the red and black wires to them, insert these two batteries with wires into the socket, put tight foam rubber. We isolate the batteries with tape and put everything in place.

We charge from the old charge.

And it is right)

But if I stuff a charging station with these elements, I take everything off to a goal.

But it’s not worth soldering them, you need welding .... I can talk a lot about them, half a year I work very closely with them.

When I disassemble, I do not remove the tires, but I cut them in half and already solder these tires. And the tires are welded by contact welding.
Self-discharge, yes, it's a good thing. But I would not have believed if I had not seen lithium ignited under load. For the first time I almost got embarrassed). And the tension is not a cause for joy, the capacity could fall well like that. In my flashlight there are Panasonic from Matsushita from the laptop of 1997. If everything turned out so simple, we would not work with the replacement of cadmium))

I am silent about the used elements, lithium is not known to be stored for a long time.

Recently I bought 20 kg of old batteries from laptops ... I got caught in 2007 made in Japan measured the voltage .... on all banks 2.56 volts .. 10 years lay .... disassembled, soldered ... charged .to 4, 20 ... a month has passed measured voltage -4.10 volts.
Sorry, but I, not knowing anything about lithium, transferred my screwdriver to 18650 when Ali Express wasn’t ...)))) Then I wrote cheap “Ultrafire” from DilExtreme, which proudly displayed the inscription “4000”, but really God forbid that one ...)))). But, strangely enough, and they had enough power in excess .... Here are the capacities - not really ... (Much better than the old, but still, on the day of work - nothing). But this was compensated by the fact that I did not solder them, but inserted them into a screwdriver, and they charged on an external charger. And since I took a lot of 10 pieces, then there was no problem - I quickly changed and continue to work ....
We bring lithium batteries after wintering in the garage. Capacity drops dramatically, you have to change all the jars. The article uses the same from laptops that are not suitable for these purposes, they are not able to give even 1C. I am silent about the used elements, lithium is not known to be stored for a long time.
In a refrigerator, 0 ° C unless in old appliances near the freezer itself, and in the chamber space, depending on a particular sample, usually from 2 ° C to 8 ° C, rarely when going beyond these limits.

Refrigerator, 0 degrees. But the freezer can be -6 or lower.

I put the battery in the refrigerator for half a year - the capacity remains 100%. Today I’ll put it in the freezer - I’ll unsubscribe tomorrow.

It is worth forgetting in the garage in the cold, goodbye lithium ....

Put the fully charged battery in the refrigerator .. put it ... after six months, take it out and install it in the laptop - 100% charged
And where is the mention of high-current 18650. Ordinary laptops will not work!
Let's estimate the price. 3 banks of high-current 18650 + board = 2000r. Replacement with new ones as in the native 1500-1800 rubles.
We receive. The number of cycles in lithium is less than that of nickel cadmium. It is worth forgetting in the garage in the cold, goodbye lithium .... Well, etc. Sorry for the criticism, but I work in SC on repacking the battery)))

Hey. My design is simpler, it is in a standard case and is charged from a regular charge. You can also connect the battery to a wall outlet with a wire.

And somehow I did something similar, only "according to a different concept." In the case from a standard battery, it made the bottom open, but inside there were such battery compartments from Ali-Express, sealed with foam, so as not to hang out.

The batteries were charged on their usual charger at home, and then you just take the charged menus with you and that’s all!)))))
