To drill holes in the glass, you can purchase a diamond drill or a crown. But, and if you need to drill several holes of different diameters? It’s unprofitable to buy drills of different diameters for one or two times. The master offers us his way and his tool to drill a hole in the glass.
The master proposes to make a crown on glass of copper. Copper is soft and works well with lapping paste (for valves). In time, this is a little more than a diamond drill. Five drilled in 7 minutes.
So, the author used the following
Tools and materials:
-Drilling machine;
-Copper sheet or cap;
- clamps;
-Crowns;
-Polishing paste or alumina;
-Plasticine;
A drill (not to be confused we will call a drill) can be made by wrapping a copper strip around the crown on metal or wood and fixing it with a clamp. In principle, the crown does not matter much and you can wrap a copper strip around any cylinder of the desired diameter, having previously prepared it for work on a drilling machine. Naturally, the copper strip should be below the edge of the crown.
The second method is to drill a hole in the copper cap and install a bolt in the hole. It is important to drill a hole exactly in the center.
After the tool is ready, you need to prepare the glass for drilling. Around the drilling site you need to make a ring of plasticine. Place lapping paste or alumina with water inside the ring. Then the drilling process begins.
Let's see the author’s video with the drilling process.
