In this article, the Wizard will show us the technology of manufacturing giant figures from expanded polystyrene. Of course, for the manufacture of such figures you need the appropriate equipment, but, if desired, you can cut them manually. This time the master will make the figure of Anubis, the Egyptian god with the head of a jackal and the body of a person.
Tools and materials:
- CNC cutter for polystyrene;
-Computer with software;
Expanded polystyrene;
-Plywood;
- Electric jigsaw;
-Screw;
-Sandpaper;
- Putty:
Step One: Image Processing
The master downloaded the image on the Internet and processed it in Sketchup. First, he divided the figure into several parts. This is necessary, since a figure with a height of not more than 60 cm can be processed on the machine.
In the next process, it is very important to use "parallel projection" instead of the usual perspective. The next step was to take all parts of the object, rotate them and save the image after each rotation. In the program that the master used, there was a rotation tool that allowed him to rotate 15 degrees. So you need to rotate each part 12 times clockwise and save each image.
Further, each image must be processed and converted into a vector shape.
Step Two: Turntable
The turntable is a circle cut out of plywood with printed markings every 15 degrees. a hole has been drilled for positioning and turning in the center of the table. Also, a hole is drilled in the torch's desktop. Aligning the two holes, the master secured the turntable to the desktop with a screw.
Step Three: Trimming
Now the material is mounted on the turntable and trimming begins. For cutting the left half of the figure, the table, after each operation, rotates 15 degrees to the left side, for cutting the right side, rotates to the right side.
Step Four: Grinding
After cutting, each figure is manually sanded with sandpaper.
Now you need to collect the figures and fix. The author does not describe how he fixed the parts, but this is not such a difficult problem. After assembly, the figures were covered with plaster.
Here are some more examples of the wizard.

Giant easter eggs.
Well, and the last figure. It is certainly not made of polystyrene, but also of impressive size. This is a 3 meter teddy bear. The master clearly gravitates to gigantomania-)))
