DIY compost containers

Hello dear readers and the inhabitants of our site!
In this article, Steve, the author of YouTube channel "Steve Ramsey - Woodworking for Mere Mortals", will tell you how to make neat, albeit primitive, but very necessary for private traders and rural areas, compost boxes.

This is a fairly simple project, and it can be done by everyone, even a novice joiner.
All you need to complete the project is an electric jigsaw, or a hand-held circular saw or a miter saw. Although it is quite possible to handle a hand saw with a screwdriver.

Materials
- Board
- Impregnation for wood
- Wood screws
- Galvanized wire mesh
- Steel U-shaped profile
- Furniture hinges.

Instruments, used by the author.
- Miter saw
-
- Furniture stapler.

Manufacturing process.
To begin with, Steve screws a long board to the stop of the saw table to maximize its lengthening. Then he makes a cut in an impromptu emphasis.

Now he can use this limiter from the cut board. Fixes it with a clamp. It is needed in order to quickly cut the boards in length. This is one of the few projects that does not need special accuracy of execution.

The author feels quite confident, even cutting off several boards at once.

Here is a hill of blanks turned out.

He screws two of these boards 50X100 mm together. They should help him line up the sides at a right angle and keep them as he twists them.

The process of assembling squares is very fast. In the corners, a pair of screws is enough.

Here he drew a line with a pencil to quickly center the middle board. Everything is screwed up quickly, without much accuracy. It’s not furniture do it!

Steve wants to slightly extend the life of this timber and applies a layer of red impregnation to the tree. It perfectly protects against moisture and is indispensable for outdoor wooden structures. In addition, it is completely harmless to soil and plants. Clears the space for containers.

Now he will twist these segments with long screws. The clamps will be very welcome here!

These boards should form a kind of groove along which the front panel will slide. The main thing is to leave enough space for her.

In the same way, the author makes lids on the boxes. But such an aviary wire will hold the compost inside and prevent the penetration of any animals into the inside. It will also give compost good ventilation. The mesh can easily be fixed with a furniture stapler.

In the same way, the grid is also fastened inside the crate.

Steve sets the covers and screws the hinges.

Then he drives into the ground these metal profiles that should hold the front of the crate. Profiles are screwed to the structure. The front panel is needed so that, if necessary, you can mix the compost for its faster decay.

As you can see from the photo, the front panel consists of typesetting boards.
In order for the compost to overtake in this unusual capacity, it took him only 4 months. By the way, there are many additives to speed compost decay.

A handy thing, don't you find? As you can see, the land can be fertilized without any pesticides!
Thanks to the author for the simple but useful device for cottages and the garden!

All good mood, good luck, and interesting ideas!
