The process of making a table:
Step one. Cut the main profile
We are looking for a log of suitable sizes, and if you want to get a beautiful picture, choose the part where there are branches. Just make rows of cuts, and then knock out pieces of wood with a hammer. With this approach, step by step we get the desired result.
As for the bottom of the countertop, here we remove the bark, cut off the excess and grind it with a grinder using a petal or other similar nozzle.
Having made the main profile, you can move to the workshop. Now, armed with a plane, align the plane of the countertop. Also cut off the sharp corners of the table with a planer or milling cutter. The table top is well grinded with a manual belt sander or another.
Step Two Production and installation of legs
We’ll make the legs for the table, here we need a beam or thick legs that can be cut to the appearance of a beam. Well, then we go to work on a lathe. We form the desired shape, and also here we grind the legs.
The legs can be installed, for this we drill holes in the countertop of the corresponding diameter. To fix the legs we use carpentry glue. We check how the table stands, if it is crooked, one or several legs can be cut with a hacksaw.
Step Three Final revision of the table
The wood will certainly have cracks, and the material must be exceptionally dry, otherwise it will crack heavily during drying. If the cracks are long, deep and in your opinion they threaten the integrity of the countertops, it is better to strengthen such areas. Here we need wood details in the form of “butterflies”, cut their boards using an accessible tool.
Next, under these details in the countertop, you need to make the corresponding recesses. The author carries out the main work with a milling cutter, and then we finish the chisel grooves. We hammer the details on the glue and squeeze the protruding parts above the surface with a plane.
The tabletop must be carefully sanded, then a manual tape or orbital machine will come to our aid. You need to grind the countertop so that it is as smooth as possible, so the picture will be very beautiful and expressive.
At the end, we saturate the tree with oil, it immediately begins to become very beautiful, all colors become saturated. And when the oil dries, we polish the table with beeswax, now we have a real masterpiece of art.
