DIY air bike

I welcome fans to craft, today we will consider how to make bike airborne. The author used quite powerful engines, these are two n5065 320kv motors, which work together with 17X8 propellers. The project was created for the purpose of the experiment, in order to understand whether there is enough traction for riding a bicycle. Of course, the efficiency is homemade low, but overall the project may be interesting. If the home-made you are interested in, I propose to study the project in more detail!

Materials and tools used by the author:

Material List:
- wooden beam or boards for the frame;
- ;
- and adapters for their installation;
- ;
- ;
- electronic throttle handle;
- battery (with a voltage of 14.8V);
- plastic ties;
- double sided tape.

Tool List:
- a hacksaw;
- drill;
- screwdriver;
- soldering iron;
- nippers, screwdriver, etc.

Homemade manufacturing process:

Step one. Frame assembly
Let's start with the frame, for its manufacture we need a beam or thick boards. On the frame we fix the engines, as well as the battery. We cut the workpieces and assemble a design resembling the letter “T”. To connect the parts, the author used self-tapping screws in combination with wood glue.

For added rigidity and reliability, we cut out two triangles from plywood or boards and glue to the frame as the author in the photo.

Step Two Revising the rev controller
We have two controllers for controlling engines. One controller only generates a signal, an electronic throttle control is connected to it. We also have a power controller that is able to control a current of 80A, the controller described above is connected to it.

This small 3CH ECS controller, which generates signals for the power controller, we need to refine, namely, we need to connect an electronic inductor to it. To do this, remove the native potentiometer and instead set the jumpers, as the author. Also bite off the extra contact, as the author. We solder the wires from the electronic throttle handle to the prepared controller.

Step ThreeInstallation of all components on the frame
We install engines on the frame, fasten them with screws or self-tapping screws. We also install two speed controllers of 80A each, and to these controllers we connect a 3CH ECS controller with a connected throttle handle. We fix all the components to the frame using double-sided adhesive tape.

We also need to install a battery pack, for it we will need to cut the base out of plywood and fasten it with screws to the frame. We attach the battery to the frame with electrical tape, after gluing it to the base with double-sided tape. A similar battery can be assembled from 18650 cells, such can be found in old laptop batteries or you can buy new ones.

For such a battery, you definitely need a BMS controller, otherwise the battery will last very little due to deep discharge or recharging.

Step Four Installation and testing

We install the manufactured frame with all the equipment on the trunk of a bicycle. For fixing, you can use plastic ties. We conduct the wiring and install the throttle handle, after which the homemade product is ready.

From the spot the author starts off without problems, the bike accelerates well too. Of course, such a homemade product may not be pulled downhill, but we always have pedals, the design of a classic bicycle has not been affected. When using solar panels, you can get a pretty good helper for cycling.

On this project can be considered successfully completed, I hope you liked the homemade work, and you found useful thoughts for yourself. Good luck and creative inspiration, if you decide to repeat this. Do not forget to share your ideas and homemade things with us!

Add another generator to recharge the batteries
Yeah, and twist the generator with a separate motor! xaxa
Guest Anatoly
Add a generator to recharge the batteries - he wouldn’t have a price.
Guest Sergey
Who will calculate how long the battery lasts?
Admittedly, the engine power consumption is 3.6 kW, the price is about $ 76, not far and expensive! nea
