Today I want to show my idea of a night lamp in the form of a YouTube logo. First we need to decide on the material homemade, I have this plexiglass 4 mm thick, it is best to use from 6 to 10 mm. All because there will be more possibilities further, but I found only 4 mm.
Now we need a drawing that needs to be redrawn or printed on paper, on a computer you can choose the right scale for yourself and then, having put a piece of paper to the monitor, redraw it along the outline with a pencil or pen. Next, cut out and glue to the plexiglass with glue, two side tape or ordinary transparent.
Cut with a jigsaw, a hacksaw. We process with a file and then with sandpaper. We draw a core or an awl of a point on a triangle in the interior of the figure, and we strip off the drawing.
Getting to polishing plexiglass. We start with P180 and up to P2000, always with water!
We take polishing paste G6 or G8, here also, the larger the number, the less grain. I polish with a screwdriver and a polishing pad on a foam base, also with water! On each side no more than 1-2 minutes, every 10-20 seconds wetting with water. We apply the polishing paste to the circle itself, also moistened with water.
Now we dry the workpiece and in places the core of the triangle paste a thick thick paper tape. We take sandpaper, I’m on a foam basis, it will be better, less adhesive tape will peel off. Grind to a matte surface. And rip off the tape.
So it turns out. We now need to make a stand that will glow. I take a small segment of the bar along the length of the workpiece, near the edge I make a slot with a small chisel. I glue the LED strip, I have it on 12V, best of all on 5 so we can turn it on from usb, and fill it with glue.
