Grinder for cutting circles

Hello to all lovers of craftsmen, I propose to consider a very useful homemade, which extends the functionality grinders. With this tool, you can quickly and accurately cut circles from iron, and if you refine the design, come up with a universal mount, circles can be cut, including from wood and other non-magnetic materials. In the assembly, homemade is quite simple, in use too, you can easily set the desired diameter for cutting. If you are interested in homemade, I suggest studying it in more detail!

Materials and tools used by the author:

Material List:
- threaded rod;
- extended nuts;
- nuts with a lock insert;
- a small bearing;
- a bolt;
- iron plate;
- magnets from old speakers (or better from hard drives);
- iron plates;
- paint for metal.

Tool List:
- ;
- drill;
- welding machine;
- spanners;
- tape measure, marker.

Homemade manufacturing process:

Step one. Work axis and base
The working axis consists of a bolt and a nut; a small bearing is fixed to the bolt. An elongated nut is installed on the working axis.
As for the base, we need an iron plate, the author found a finished part that is suitable in shape and size. The sheet should have a hole in which the bolt head will pass. All we need to do is weld the bearing to the base. Of course, overheating will damage the bearing, but the loads here will be minimal, so that the adaption will last a long time.

Step Two Magnets
Device attached to a sheet of iron with magnets, the author found two black magnets from old speakers. But it’s best to use neodymium magnets from old hard drives for DIY. Such magnets are much more powerful, they can be attached with screws or welded to the body, and also on such magnets there is a protective coating that protects the magnets from destruction.

As for the black magnets, their author decided to install two pieces, and for fixing it was decided to use epoxy glue. For good bonding, we clean the surfaces of materials with an iron brush or sandpaper. Of course, black magnets are quite fragile, they will chip during the operation of homemade. It is recommended to stick paper, thin rubber and so on to the magnets on top to protect against impacts on a sheet of iron.

Step Three Barbell
As a rod, that is, a horizontal axis, the author used a long threaded rod. To fix it, you will need another nut, it must be welded perpendicular to the nut that is on the vertical axis. As a result, the bar can be adjusted in length by twisting or twisting into a nut.

Step Four Bracket for
We weld the bracket for the grinder, we will fasten the grinder in two places, these are the holes into which the handle is wrapped. The fasteners should be in the form of the letter “P”; the author used two pieces of a corner and a piece of an iron plate as material. In general, fasteners can be welded from iron plates. We drill holes for the bolts and the fasteners are ready.
A nut is welded to the bracket, with it we will fasten the bracket to the rod.

Step Five Painting and testing
We disassemble all the nodes and paint the parts so that it does not rust. Now everything can be assembled back, the homemade product looks great. We install the grinder, we adjust the necessary radius, we fix knots by means of nuts with lock inserts.

The author cuts in the direction of sparks, which is unacceptable, since the circle quickly grinds and can break. The video shows how quickly the author cut up the cutting disc due to incorrect cutting.

You need to cut it from a torch with sparks, and the thicker the metal, the more gradually it needs to be cut. We go through the first circle and go a little deeper into the metal, then the second circle and so on, until we cut it off. In general, the homemade work turned out to be workable, the author managed to cut the circle without problems from a rather thick sheet of metal.

This is the end of the project, I hope you liked the homemade work, and you found useful thoughts for yourself. Good luck and creative inspiration, if you decide to repeat this. Do not forget to share your ideas and homemade things with us!

There is no idea. Everything is stupid and laborious, it can be done much easier and more affordable. The trouble is that someone takes this idiocy seriously ....
The idea is useful, but, it seems, the center needs to be fixed differently, magnets can move, efforts are decent there! scratch
