Translating the article by Instructables author under the nickname chrisference_ on the application of the principle "good design is the least possible design" formulated by designer Dieter Rams in homemade minimalist watches, I decided to look for something else like that. The author of the same site under the nickname science-tech made do it yourself minimalist Christmas tree, which, like the sleigh in the proverb, can be done in advance in the summer.
The master begins work on the Christmas tree by assembling the frame from a PVC pipe with a diameter of 1/4 inch. He takes lengths: 1100 mm - 1 pc., 300 mm - 2 pc., 200 mm - 4 pc. The design also includes three tees and four caps designed for such pipes. Here is the result:
Cut a disk of a diameter from cardboard so that it is slightly less than the distance between the legs of the frame. Makes a central hole in it and eight slots for cables. Mounts the drive to the chassis. Tightens the cables, but not so much so as not to deform the disk. It is better, of course, to place the fifth cap on top and make a slot in it so that the cables do not come off.
Wraps the cables with LED strip and connects it to the PSU. Since the tape is not cooled, it is good to take a power supply with adjustable output voltage and set it to about 10 V.
You can make such a tree faster than dress up an ordinary one. When it comes time to install it - it will save a lot of time. Just no jewelry made from aluminum-coated dacron. Touching the LED strip, they will cause a short circuit. And in general, the minimalism of this Christmas tree consists in the fact that it is decorated with one ribbon, and nothing more.
