Simple elevator for do-it-yourself router

Hello dear readers andthe inhabitants of our site!
Perhaps some of you have already made a milling table yourself from a conventional milling cutter. But there is a problem of adjusting the height of the cutter, because of which it is necessary to climb under the table, and change the settings of the milling cutter.
In this article, the author of the YouTube channel Alexey Chezganov will tell you how he solved this issue and made a simple elevator for the router.

This homemade product is quite simple to manufacture, but will require small welding work.

Materials
- Two identical bike sprockets
- Bolts for hexagon M8
- Conventional M8 bolts, washers and nuts
- Profile pipe 20X20 mm
- Stud, extended nuts M8
- Perforated steel plate
- Wood screws
- Bicycle chain
- Spray paint.

Instruments, used by the author.
- Drilling machine
-, metal drills

Manufacturing process.
First of all, the master cuts off two blanks 100 mm long and one 250 mm from the profile pipe.

Then he presses such a perforated plate with a geyser grip to the workbench, and divides it into two parts. The location of the holes is not important.

It is welded to short workpieces from one end on a thrust washer.

And to the second end - a perforated plate. The seams are cleaned with a grinder.

In the center of the retaining plate drills a hole for the M8 bolt. Then he turns the bar and drills the holes on its edges for the studs.

Alexei found two such stars here, a washer is welded to their midpoints.

The first details are ready, they can be painted.

Now you need to remove the lower part of the milling platform.

In a convenient place on the table marks the future center of the cutter, and the holes necessary for fastening.

Then he drills holes in the table.

From below he puts a small board, presses a workbench to the table, and drills a working hole with a crown.

Now the board can be removed.

The holes are countersunk, and the router is screwed to the bottom of the table to the standard holes on the sole.

Now you can assemble the elevator itself.A bolt with a hexagon head is threaded through the racks, an elongated washer is screwed onto its edge. And the hairpin is already twisted into it.

Nuts are inserted into the edges of the retaining plate, and studs are twisted into them.

It remains only to tighten the sprockets with a pair of nuts at the very edges of the studs, and put on the chain. Now, if you rotate any of the studs, then the second will rotate synchronously with it. This is exactly how the bar will move along the studs.

In the upper part, the bolt must be tightened into an elongated nut so that it rotates freely in the rack, but the play is minimal.

A bolt is threaded into the central hole of the bar so that it is on the bearing from two of its sides. The milling cutter will be based on them.

The master slightly increases the size of the holes for the heads of the adjustment screws.

Now it remains to screw the elevator frame to the bottom of the table.

That's it, the mechanism is working.

For further work, the master raised the milling cutter as much as possible and installed the milling cutter he needed.

And for faster height adjustment, you can use a hex screwdriver.

The final touch remains - make a small lid that closes the hole.

Thanks to the author for a very interesting device to adjust the height of the milling cutter, it may be useful in your workshop too!
All good mood, good luck, and interesting ideas!
