Simple top-loading barrel heating stove

Hello to all the lovers of craftsmanship, that summer has come to an end, you need to think about how to heat yourself and the room in winter. As one of the simple options, I propose to consider a simple furnace design from a metal barrel. Despite the fact that the barrel is made of thin metal, it does not burn out, since the furnace is placed separately and it is in it that combustion occurs at high temperature. It is interesting that the furnace is near the top-loading furnace, and the furnace can even be heated with fuel pellets. If you are interested homemade, I propose to study the project in more detail!

Materials and tools used by the author:

Material List:
- barrel with a lid;
- Sheet steel;
- a piece of a square pipe for the furnace;
- chimney (from a hardware store);
- heat resistant paint.

Tool List:
- rivet gun;
- grinder;
- welding machine;
- drill;
- tape measure, marker.

Furnace manufacturing process:

Step one. Top part
The whole essence of the manufacture of the furnace converges to one single part, which is installed in the lid. In this part there is a pipe for installing a chimney, and also there is a firebox.

The basis for the part is cut out of sheet steel, cut holes in it under the furnace and the smoke pipe.

The furnace is made from a piece of a square pipe of large diameter, the edge of the pipe is cut, bent and welded so that a lattice is formed that will hold firewood, pellets or other fuel. Then the firebox is welded into the base of sheet steel.

As for the smoke pipe, to obtain the desired diameter, the pipe can be made of steel plate. Just make a series of cuts, bend the plate into a ring and weld. In the barrel lid we also make holes in the appropriate places.

Step Two Painting and assembly
To paint the barrel, you need to remove the old paint, the author decided to melt his furnace, it works fine, but the furnace body did not heat up to such a temperature that it could burn the paint. As a result, the author put the wood directly into the barrel and calcined it well. After firing, the paint can be easily removed using a grinder with a wire brush. Well, then paint the barrel with heat-resistant paint.

The furnace can be assembled, we fasten the part with the furnace and the smoke pipe to the cover with rivets or screws with nuts. The lid itself is installed on the barrel. After that, the oven will be almost ready.

Step Three Completion
As a refinement, a separation wall must be installed inside the barrel so that the hot gases reach the base and warm the entire furnace body. The partition is made of sheet steel, and it is removable.

Also, as a decor, you can drill a symbol or inscription that will glow in the dark when the stove is burning.

That's all, after that the stove will be ready, everything works fine, firewood is conveniently loaded into the furnace. As for the ash, it will accumulate in the barrel, periodically it will have to be emptied, which is not so difficult.

This is the end of the project, the home-made was simple and effective, on the upper plane of the oven you can completely warm up something or fry the fried eggs. Good luck and creative inspiration, if you decide to repeat this. Do not forget to share your ideas and homemade things with us!
