Hello to all lovers of craftsmen, today we will consider a very useful homemade for a country house. It's about unusual rakes with a capture function. With such a rake, you can rake the leaves, and then grab them and transfer them to the right place. This issue is especially relevant in the fall, when many leaves fall on the ground. Of course, with such an excavator you can load grass, garbage and other objects, working with more powerful classic rakes. Materials and tools used by the author:
Material List:
- sheet steel (from the roof or the like);
- furniture hinges;
- plumbing plastic pipe;
- bolt with nut;
- paint.

Homemade manufacturing process:
Step one. Jaw making
First we’ll make the jaws, as the material is suitable thin sheet steel, which is usually covered with roofs. The author cuts two identical pieces with scissors for metal, now we need to make stiffeners so that the metal does not bend. To make such ribs, the author simply bent the edges of the sheets with hammer blows on a piece of corner.
Further, on one jaw we make a marking and cut teeth with metal scissors, this will be the front part, which will be rowed. At the end, we bend the jaw to the desired shape.
Step Two Hinge
Both jaws are articulated, you will need furniture hinges. We drill holes and fasten the hinges with a rivet gun, and if this is not the case, use screws with nuts.
Step Three Fasteners
We make fasteners from thicker sheet metal, the author cuts the material with scissors. We bend, drill holes and install rivet fasteners on the upper jaw. In this fixture, you can now install a wooden holder.
Step Four Control device
To compress and unclench your jaw, you will need a piece of a plumbing pipe, it is light and quite durable.We make two hinges, one hinge should slide along the handle, and the other hinge is mounted on the lower jaw. The author made sheet metal hinges. We install a plastic pipe between the hinges, we use bolts with nuts as axles.
Step Five Painting and testing
We paint all the metal parts from the spray can, so that the homemade product pleases the eye and does not rust. Now everything can be assembled and tested, the author quickly and easily rakes leaves, and then captures them and transfers them to the right place. The home-made turned out to be quite useful, but the design needs to be modernized. For example, the jaws can be equipped with a spring so that they themselves are compressed or unclenched. It is also important to work to ensure that the weight of the device is as small as possible, for this the jaw can be made in the form of a lattice.
