So autumn came, it is time to prepare for the cold. For heating the garage or a workshop such as a stove. While firewood burns in the stove, it perfectly warms up the room, consuming little fuel. In order for the room to be stably warm, the stove must be well-sealed and have a blower with an adjustable damper. As a result of air dosing, the stove can burn from one bookmark for quite some time. The author collected a small potbelly stove from a gas cylinder; the stove has a small cooking surface on which to heat the kettle or fry the eggs. If you are interested in the project, I propose to study it in more detail!
Materials and tools used by the author:
Material List:
- gas bottle;
- rectangular profile pipes;
- Sheet steel;
- bolts and nuts;
- door hinges;
- heat resistant paint;
- corner;
- asbestos cord;
- cast iron stoves.
Tool List:
- welding machine;
- grinder;
- roulette;
- marker;
- pipe bending machine.
Furnace manufacturing process:
Warning!
Be extremely careful when working with gas cylinders, gas residues during cutting will cause the cylinder to explode!
There are a lot of methods on how to protect yourself from an explosion, you can fill the cylinder with water and start cutting in this state. Since there will be water in the cylinder, a volume explosion will not occur. Also, some masters wash the containers with detergents, draining the water several times, and it is advisable to pour warm water. There is also a method such as burning a cylinder at the stake, but this method is dangerous.
Step one. Entrance, exit and legs
Having neutralized the cylinder, you can start cutting, first we cut the neck, this will be the door. If you have a large cylinder, you can shorten it by cutting the desired piece. Then gently with a grinder we cut a hole under the chimney. The hole can be burned with a welding machine, and if you feel sorry for the electrode, it uses graphite rods made of batteries. They can burn thick steel quite successfully at low current. The diameter of the smoke pipe of the author is 150 mm.
Weld the pipe to the furnace body well and tightly. At the end, we weld the legs to the body, in which round or square pipes are suitable.
Step Two Blew
We make a reliable blower for the furnace, which will allow us to precisely regulate the air supply. The author made a blowing sleeve from a piece of a profile pipe of 60 mm, we make for him a damper made of sheet steel. The damper is hinged, and to adjust the gap, the author adapted a bolt with a nut that is welded to the damper.
Step Three Hob
We make the cooking plane for the furnace, cut out a piece of metal in the desired part. You need to cut the balloon so that you can straighten the edges, as a result, you get the finished walls. Well, then we weld a sheet of thick sheet steel as the hob. We carefully clean the welds and make sure that there are no cracks and holes anywhere.
Step Four Door
You can hang the door, the author installed it on strong door hinges. Also, the author made sure that the door closes tightly. A ring from a profile pipe was welded to the door, in which the author cut one of the walls. The result was a groove in which the author laid the asbestos cord. Of course, sealing the furnace is good, but do not forget that asbestos emits toxic gases when heated.
We also make a reliable valve for the furnace, which will press the door to the body.
Step Five Grate
Inside the furnace there are grate bars that make the combustion process much better. Grid-irons are opposite the level of the blower, the author has welded a frame from the corner under the usual oven grates.
Step Six Test
The stove is ready, install the chimney and kindle firewood. At first, it is better to let the stove burn in the street so that the paint and dirt burn out. Well, then we clean the furnace with a metal brush and you can paint the steel with heat-resistant paint. Note that without paint, the oven will actively rust due to frequent heating and cooling.
As a result, the author turned out to be an excellent small oven, near which he will not freeze and will be able to cook food. Hope you homemade I liked it, and you found useful thoughts for yourself. Good luck and creative inspiration, if you decide to repeat this.
