Greetings to all readers and do-it-yourselfers. Going on a camping trip or fishing with an overnight stay, we have to make a bonfire to cook dinner or just to warm ourselves up. For ignition, we usually use matches or a lighter, but at the crucial moment they can fail - the matches can become damp, and gas can run out in the lighter or flint will pop out. In order not to be left without fire, the author suggests acquiring, as an alternative, a pocket set for ignition, which can be made do it yourself.
Tools and materials:
• Aluminum rod.
• Aluminum tube.
• Wooden plug.
• Cotton fabric.
• Rubber o-ring.
• Engine oil.
• Epoxy two-component adhesive.
• File.
• Sandpaper.
• The file.
• Drill.
• Gas-burner.
Step 1
First, the author cut the aluminum tube to a size of 75 mm, and the rod to a size of 90 mm. An important point, the rod must enter the pipe freely. Next, you need to file the edges of the aluminum tube and the end of the bar with a file and sandpaper. The author then drowned the pipe on one side using epoxy glue and a wooden cork.
Step 2
Now you need to prepare the piston. To do this, the author clamps the rod in a vice and drills a blind hole in it with a depth of about 10-12 mm with a drill with a diameter of 4.5 mm. Then, on the same side, holding the rod in the drill chuck, files a groove on which the sealing ring will be installed.
Step 3
Then the author prepared a charred cloth. To do this, he cut it into small pieces and put it in a metal box, in the lid of which he made a hole. He heated the box with a gas burner, when a flame appeared from the hole, closed it.
Further, the author made a spatula, which will put the fabric into the hole on the piston.
Step 5
It's time to test the device. On the piston, in the groove, the author fixed the o-ring and greased it with oil. Further, a piece of charred rags was laid in the bore of the piston. I inserted the piston into the cylinder and sharply pressed it.Pulling out the piston, we see that the rags caught fire. To understand how it works, watch the video below.

After the author conducted the tests and made sure that everything works, he picked up a case for storing the kit. It must be durable, airtight and compact.
