Do-it-yourself hunting waterproof matches

Hello dear readers andthe inhabitants of our site!
Many of you are fond of hunting, fishing, hiking, or just love outdoor recreation. And the most important thing for this is to make a fire in time, regardless of weather conditions.

In this article, the author of the YouTube channel “Mr. Amazing Works ”, will tell you about one very simple way to make moisture-proof matches that have a long burning time and are very well suited for building a fire.

Materials
- Matches
- Bandage
- Waxed paper
- Paraffin candles.

Instruments, used by the author.
- Gas or electric oven
- Old bowl
- Scissors, tweezers.

Manufacturing process.
Everyone knows that an ordinary match burns for 30 seconds, but it goes out even with a slight wind blow.

To make hunting matches, you must first unwind a regular medical bandage. If its width is greater than a match, then you should immediately cut the tape along its length.
Next, the bandage is rolled tightly onto the match in the form of a roll, it will take 7-12 layers, depending on the tasks, and the required burning time.

Such "rolls" should turn out here.

Now in an unnecessary container you need to crumble a candle, or ordinary paraffin. By the way, lump paraffin in a pharmacy is very cheap. A container with paraffin is installed on the stove and a small fire is made.

After melting the candles, you need to remove the remnants of the wick, and put the blanks in it.

After a few minutes, when the items are soaked in paraffin, they need to be laid out on wax paper or foil.

However, their density is very low, layers of bandages can lag behind each other. While the workpieces have not yet cooled, they must be rolled over the surface. If you make a large number of matches, then the process can be divided into two stages.

Then after cooling, they will need to be heated until soft, and immediately rolled.

As a result, very dense shells are obtained, practically without air bubbles. An important point that the paraffin layer on the head cannot be broken or removed. If it was accidentally broken during the manufacturing process, then you can once again dip the head in liquid paraffin.

So, testing new products shows that they burn at least 6 times longer!

Now the author leaves the matches in a container of water for several hours.

Even after a prolonged stay in water, the head is completely intact. If the paraffin layer on it is too thick, then it can be removed before use.

After water procedures, matches burn even more evenly, and longer.

Of course, if you need to kindle completely raw firewood, you should make the bandage layer even more, you can also purchase long matches for lighting fireplaces, and do the same procedure with them.

Thanks to the author for an easy way to make hunting matches!
All good mood, good luck, and interesting ideas!
