Winter is coming soon, however many of you have personal plots, gardens or vegetable gardens. Therefore, in the presence of free time in winter, it is worth making a tool that will facilitate spring work.
In this article, the author of the YouTube channel “Mr. Amazing Works ”, tells you how to make simple device, with which you can not only pull out weeds without bending, but also plant and transplant plants.
This homemade product is quite simple to manufacture, but it requires a small amount of welding work.
Materials
- Steel pipe 2½ ", ¾"
- A sheet of paper, stationery glue
- steel strip
- Bolt, nut with lock ring, M6 washer.
Instruments, used by the author.
— Bulgariancutting disc
— Screwdrivermetal drills
— Welding machine
- Vise, pliers, pencil.
Manufacturing process.
So, first of all, the author makes two templates for a 2½-inch pipe, dimensions 95X150 mm. Then he sticks the first pattern on the edge of the pipe.
Then he makes incisions to mark with a grinder. Glues the same pattern on the other hand, and repeats the cuts.
Now both parts are cut off.
The result is two such sharp “shoulder blades”.
At the next stage, the master prepared two ends of a ¾ inch pipe with a length of about 100 cm. The length of the pipes depends on the growth of who will use the tool.
Blades are welded to both pipes - handles from the outside.
In order to make a swivel, you will need a steel strip with a thickness of at least 3 mm. Two such details are cut out of it, and a hole with a diameter of 6 mm is drilled into them.
These parts are connected by a screw, two washers, and tightened with a nut with a locking ring. The joint must be greased with grease or similar grease.
It remains to fold the blades together so that their faces are connected as tightly as possible. After that, the hinge is welded to the internal parts of the pipes.
That's it, the original garden tool is ready!
The first method, which the author demonstrates, allows you to quickly pull out weeds along with the roots. It is enough to push the shoulder blades apart, press the hinge with the foot, and squeeze the shoulder blades together. Now you can just pull out the weed.
In the second example, the author shows the removal of wheat grass. As you can see, everything is fast and efficient.
To plant seeds, or transplant plants, you need to do the opposite. The blades are compressed, the tool is buried in the ground, then the blades move apart. Landing is made, and the instrument neatly gets out of the hole. With the same tool, you can also dig a hole.
In the same way, you can quickly "open" the molehill, and toss him "gifts."
Of course, the dimensions of the blades and their shape, as well as the length of the handles, you can choose for your goals and objectives. It would not hurt to clean all the surfaces of the instrument and cover them with spray paint, and put bicycle handles on the ends of the pipes.
I thank the author for a simple but useful device for the garden!
All good mood, good luck, and interesting ideas!
