Pocket Butterfly Hacksaw made of aluminum

I welcome all fans to craft, I propose to consider the manufacturing instructions small pocket hacksaw do it yourself. Homemade made of aluminum, in appearance and structure of the homemade product is somewhat reminiscent of a butterfly knife. As a working body, a piece of a hacksaw blade for metal is used, and it can also be used for wood. The tool quickly and simply folds up and can be carried in your pocket. For the manufacture, the author used a milling machine, but you can cope with simpler tools, because aluminum is a rather soft metal. If you are interested in the project, I propose to study it in more detail!

Materials and tools used by the author:

Material List:
- aluminum bar;
- steel rod (soft);
- hacksaw blade;
- a screw.

Tool List:
- tape cutting machine;
- milling machine;
- belt sander;
- vise;
- drill;
- taps for threading.

Homemade manufacturing process:

Step one. Cut the blanks
The tool consists of two hollow handles, they are made in the form of the letter "U". For manufacturing we use aluminum bar, the author did not cut his bar into two halves.

Next, we drill holes and cut out the inside, the author used a milling machine. You can cope with such a task with a simpler tool, for example, a hacksaw for metal, files and so on. After rough grinding on a belt sander, the author drilled holes at the ends of the parts. The holes should be in the same places on both parts.

Step Two Axes
We prepare the axes for the tool, they will form a cross, as a result of which the tool can open and fold. Axes are made from pieces of large nails, thick steel wire or similar material. It is important that the steel is soft, as it will need to be riveted at the end.

As the central part, the author has so far applied a piece of a wooden bar.Now the tool can be assembled and sanded entirely on a tape machine.

Step Three Blade holder
We make the core of the tool to which the handles will be attached, as well as a hacksaw blade. As a material, an aluminum bar is suitable, steel can also be used.

We drill two holes under the axis in the part, and the author also carved a loop in the part that will allow the tool to be suspended when folded.

On the other side, a fork is made into which a hacksaw blade will be inserted. In total, the web will be held by two axes, one axis is installed statically into the fork. The second axis is a screw, under it we drill a hole and cut the thread.

Step Four Assembly and testing
After grinding all the internal surfaces, the tool can be assembled. We insert the axes into place, cut off the excess, and then rivet the ends with a hammer. At the end, the tool expects final grinding and polishing in the mirror.

The tool is ready, we prepare and install a hacksaw blade. At the end of the blade we cut the plug and drill a hole, now the blade can be securely fixed to the fork with a screw. We also shorten the canvas so that it fits inside the handle. That's all, the hacksaw is ready, for demonstration the author easily cuts steel. So that the tool is not lost, it can be hung on the carabiner by the ring.

The project is completed on this, I hope you liked the homemade work, and you found useful thoughts for yourself. Good luck and creative inspiration, if you decide to repeat this. Do not forget to share your ideas and homemade things with us!
