Sometimes there are times when it is necessary to unscrew a heavily rusted bolt or, for example, screws with torn edges. You can’t cope with the usual tool. And such an unpretentious tool that you can easily do yourself can come to your aid. I will tell you how to do it on the example of a rotor from a faulty electric starter Zaporozhets.
First of all, we cut off the part of the rotor shaft on which the winding is located (see photo 1), and then, with the rest, we remove all unnecessary.
As a result, we get only the shaft and the sleeve (see photo 2).
We put on a piece of pipe on the sleeve, which we will serve as a handle. At the other end, we insert a plug from the trim of a large bolt, which will not allow the handle to deform due to hammer blows and in parallel will limit the shaft stroke inside this sleeve (see photo 3).
Then, using electric welding, we weld all the parts (see photo 4).
We sharpen the end of the shaft in the form of a square so that it is possible to put on various heads (for bolts). If it is necessary to unscrew a screw, the corresponding bit must be inserted into the head. The principle of operation of the screwdriver is simple: when a hammer is struck at the end of the handle, the shaft begins to turn slightly on slanting slots, inside the handle. It is quite enough that the dried-up bolt breaks away.
Due to the fact that all the parts of the electric starter are made of stainless steel (must be cut with a grinder), the screwdriver turns out to be quite powerful and durable. Strong blows with a hammer on the handle should not be done, because the screws will break off the heads or bolts. And in order for the slots to serve you for a long time faithfully, they must be constantly lubricated.
Note! To make this screwdriver, an old starter from almost any car is suitable. And the larger, the more powerful your tool will turn out.
