Glass bending home conditions may come in handy on the farm, in the manufacture of any crafts. Often, masters at home want to make some small souvenir or craft and decorate with a beautifully curved piece of glass. But not everyone knows that this can be done quite easily at home.
In this video you can make sure that bending glass without special devices is not a myth, but quite real.

In order to bend the glass we need:
- a piece of glass;
- ruler;
- diamond glass cutter;
- pliers.
In order to bend the glass we need a strip no more than 15 mm thick. Such a strip can be cut off from your existing piece of glass or ordered in a glass workshop.
To cut a strip, we apply a ruler to a smooth edge, back off the desired distance from the edge and with a confident hand draw along the line with a glass cutter. Then break off with pliers.
In order to bend the resulting strip, we need to remove the protective grill from the gas stove, turn on the burner. In the flame we warm up our strip from the middle. Glass should not have any scratches or defects.
The melting temperature of ordinary window glass is more than 1000 ° C, so you have to be patient and wait until it warms up and glows. To check how well the glass has warmed up, it needs to be slightly crushed periodically. As soon as it succumbed, the glass was sufficiently heated.
The glass strip should be heated evenly so that it does not burst.
After the strip has warmed up evenly, you can begin to bend it in the right direction or as you wish.
The only thing, do not forget to leave a place around the edges that you could hold on to, for the convenience of bending. If not with bare hands, then at least through the fabric.
After you have given the glass the necessary shape, it must be properly cooled. If you immediately remove from the fire - it will burst. Therefore, it is necessary to gradually, in millimeters, remove the strip from the fire. It can be lifted slightly and pushed to the side. There should not be any gusts of wind in the bending place.
The slower you remove the glass from the fire, the better the bending result will be.
After the workpiece is ready, with the help of a glass cutter, excess pieces of glass are cut.
