How to make a fireplace in a summer cottage

If you lay a fireplace with stone slabs in a summer cottage, then it will serve you for many years, pleasing with its appearance and functionality. Of course, to make such a fireplace is not so easy, you have to work with your hands. But the author of this lesson turned out to be a wonderful bonfire for a family vacation! So you will succeed if you try!

We will need:
- standard and thin stone slabs;
- concrete, mortar, yellow sand;
- concrete blocks;
- crushed stone, reinforcement;
- trowel, shovel, circular saw, rake, chisel, hammer;
- car, water, mask;
- sponges, level, buckets, rubber mallet.

Step 1

First, you need to decide on the site on which you will begin to build this structure. Put the selected area in order: align it.

Step 2

Dig a hole under the foundation around the site, because the bonfire should have small walls.

Step 3

Pour the resulting foundation with gravel, install bricks on top, lay out two reinforcement rods. Fill the structure with concrete mortar. If you took a quick-drying concrete solution, then do not hesitate - install the first row of blocks, without waiting for the concrete to dry completely. The author of the lesson did just that.

Step 4

Spread the rows of concrete blocks without using mortar, measuring the estimated wall height of the future structure.

Step 5

Now assemble the wall, for this use a concrete mortar. For each row, check the height level!

Step 6

Next, you need to outline the shape of the site and fill it with gravel. The author covered it so that the platform rose slightly above the ground. As a result, his lifting height is equal to the height of the concrete block. Lay out blocks on the edge of the pad. Do not neglect this step - thanks to the time-consuming laying of concrete blocks with a heavy rain the site will not be destroyed.

Step 7

Are the blocks installed? Then it's time to fill the site with yellow sand and gravel. Tamp it all, checking the level.

Step 8

Using stone slabs, the fireplace will turn out more aesthetic. Start laying from the main site.Apply the solution on the surface of the wall, then a thin layer on each thin tile. Match tiles to shape. In addition, tap each tile with a rubber mallet - then the hitch will be more reliable. Leave small gaps between the tiles - half a centimeter, no more! If they turned out large, then fill the gaps with small pieces of tile, so that they become invisible.

Step 9

At the base of the site, lay the tile dry, choosing them in size.

Step 10

Then lay the tile already with the use of the solution. The thickness of stone slabs usually varies, so painstaking work remains.

Step 11

Treat with a solution the entire site of the fireplace, as well as the walls. Wipe off excess solution immediately with a sponge.

Step 12
Well, now we go directly to the fireplace: lay it out of standard stone slabs, the solution in this case does not need to be applied. You can use a less costly way - to lay a fireplace made of refractory bricks, but then it will not fit into the overall style of the created site.

That’s all - the campfire in the summer cottage is ready. Here you can relax with the whole family!
