Ponoko’s vector graphics and digital service helped the author of this lesson give an ordinary lamp a stylish and original look. You can also try to diversify your home interior with such a homemade lamp!
We will need:
- Fluorescent Lamp;
- screwdrivers, base;
- pencil, pens;
- A computer with an installed vector graphics editor (for example, Corel Draw);
- power cable;
- acrylic panels for the lamp.
Step 1
The author began with a sketch, because first you need to figure out how the subject will look. Draw a sketch on paper or repeat after the author of the lesson, if you want to make exactly the same lamp.
Step 2
Download the vector graphics editor to your computer. Adobe Illusrator or Corel Draw are licensed programs, and NanoCAD is an analogue for free. Follow the product drawing and save it in DFX format. You can work directly directly with a vector editor, or make a product in 3D for clarity, as the author did.
Step 3
Open the program DFX-files, place all the templates convenient for you.
Step 4
Find the pattern you like in the search engines (search in monochrome). Circle the pattern with a pen in the editor, then duplicate the pattern throughout the picture.
Just keep in mind that the design of the product will have to be cut with the help of a laser installation, for this you will have to contact ready-made laser cutting studios with ready-made drawings and templates.
So do the main engraving in black, make the lines blue.
Step 5
The photo below shows how to create a lamp with a decorative design step by step, if all the details are already at your fingertips. By the way, you can make simple panels for creating this lamp yourself from any material convenient for you, but acrylic panels are still better to order in the studio.
Step 6
Connect to the base of the wire, insert the lamp. Assemble the exterior of the luminaire from pre-cut panels. The design will stay on the wedges - they are inserted in the upper panels through the slots. Keep this in mind when creating your drawing and design.
